A couple weeks ago, I was skulking over at Kyera’s Library and she posted this awesome present that her mother gave her. For her birthday, her mother made her two homemade bookish boxes a la OwlCrate, etc., and they were creative and brilliantly done (check them out). I thought it was a fabulous idea and from time to time, I’m going to share with you themed book boxes that I would create!
I wanted to start off easy, so the central figure in today’s homemade book box is the stunning 20th Anniversary Edition of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – Ravenclaw style! All products, outside of the book, I found on Etsy.
So obviously, first, you’d need the book. That can be purchased from Amazon or The Book Depository.
Second, Ravenclaws are bookish folk, wise and witty, and so we’d need a lovely journal to take notes in, write down particularly good jokes, or plot out world domination. I chose a bronze and blue journal sold by Tower House Treasures.
To write in the notebook, we need some pens. But, come on, this is Harry Potter! I went with these lovely blue turkey Feather Quills from Witch’s Grove and some fabulous Blue Writing Ink from Mighty Paper Shop. You could use regular old pens, but these are much more fun.
Since quills are such fun, you’re going to want to use them in more than just a World Domination Journal, so we’ve included some Hogwarts house postcards by Sushi Studios to send to your friends.
Of course, if you’re like me, you’ll find the artwork too pretty to give away, so you can stick them on your fridge with the Harry Potter Themed Magnets by Queso Blanco Designs.
While reading or writing, it’s lovely to have some tea, so the last two items in the box are a Ravenclaw Mug from Hand Painted Nerd and a Loose Black and Blueberry Tea Blend from Tea Hippies.
Oh! And of course a bookmark. There’s one in every box! I chose the gorgeous Ravenclaw one from LexyOlivia.

Would you be excited to get this box in the mail? What other items would you have included? What items would you have skipped? Have you ever made a homemade book box?

I always hope that I will meet someone who is this creative! (Usually, I am the person who does things like this!)
I know, me too! I’m hoping that maybe by putting a few of these out there in the universe, someone will stumble across them and get inspired and learn what fun stuff to get for the book lovers in their life. I don’t know about you, but no matter how many times I tell people to buy my books for gifts, THEY NEVER DO. 🙁
This is such a fantastic bookish box! I think any bibliophile would love getting this box. I’m a Hufflepuff, though, so now I need to see what Hufflepuff amazingness you come up with!!
Aw, I’ll have to do a Hufflepuff one sometime! Probably not next, as too much Harry Potter could get redundant, but I’ll put one for each house on my Ideas list! 😀
Oh I love this idea, I would totally be excited to get this box!!
Thank you for inspiring me to make these make-your-own book boxes! Your mom is pretty cool.
Ahh this is so cute! I think Ravenclaw or not, everyone would love to get this 😀 (well minus the few people who actually hate Harry Potter of course but lets pretend they don’t exist) I wanted to choose a favourite item but I love all of them haha
What’s nice though is that technically all these stores have the same items but in different colors, so you could just do a smudge of extra searching to get the right house. 🙂
People who hate Harry Potter make me sad. :(. I’ve converted a few people who had only seen the movies – BIG DIFFERENCE.
