I love The Night Circus. Thank you from the tip of my nose to the bottoms of my toes to those who voted for this one! This book was one of the highlights of my year – it brought me into a magically world at a really difficult time in my life, so on a personal level, it was amazing. Then of course there is the book itself, which is just brilliant and beautiful and touching and one of my favorite love stories. We definitely need to see a real book box for this one.
But in the meanwhile, there is me! Combing the internet for cool, themed items so your lovelies can find a handful of fun, related products OR if you’re the coolest ever, make this for a friend.

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. The black sign, painted in white letters that hangs upon the gates, reads: Opens at Nightfalll Closes at Dawn As the sun disappears beyond the horizon, all over the tents small lights begin to flicker, as though the entirety of the circus is covered in particularly bright fireflies. When the tents are all aglow, sparkling against the night sky, the sign appears. Le Cirque des Reves The Circus of Dreams. Now the circus is open. Now you may enter.
If you are a fan of magic, love stories, carnivals, mysteries, games, competitions, you absolutely must read The Night Circus. This was a favorite book for me and it’s one I recommend to everyone.
This book is available on Book Depository and they ship for free worldwide!
Something to Wear
“Unexpected Places” Necklace
One of my favorite things about this book is all its amazing, quotable moments. Erin Morgenstern’s writing is beautiful and provoking. It is absolutely the kind of writing you want to wear around your neck.
This lovely necklace is made by The Book Corner and bears the quote: “Life takes us to unexpected places sometimes. The future is never set in stone, remember that.”. This necklace is extremely customizable, available in silver or bronze and if you don’t like the book charm you may choose another.
Something to Hold Your Place
La Cirque de Reves is very particular in its coloration. Everything inside of it is black and white, like an old photograph. The color scheme gives it an otherworldly appearance that adds to its magic. It’s why the Reveurs wear red… but we’ll get to that later.
The covers for The Night Circus all have this same bold, distinct black and white with a splash of red theme. These bookmarks from Fatty Cats Candles feature the same signature design elements, and they’re stunning.
Something to Keep With You
Fans of the Circus call themselves Reveurs. Some of them chase the Circus all over the world, ready to leave at a moment’s notice when hints pop up of its next location. So they may recognize one another in a sea of black and white, Reveurs wear an item of red. Bailey receives a handmade red scarf just like this when he joins them.
This simple, lovely, hand-crocheted scarf is made by The Quafty Duck. While an infinity scarf is pictured, she’s also happy to hand-crochet you a long scarf that you can wrap instead, more like the one Bailey wears.
Something to Set the Scene
The twins – Widget and Poppet – play such an important role in The Night Circus. Most people like to talk about Celia and Marco, but for me it was the twins that really made this book charming, along with Bailey. So in honor of them, I’ve chosen a Widget-themed candle to include here.
This candle absolutely smells like the Circus. Three Knocks Candles has included aromas of caramel apples, funnel cake, and bonfires. Honestly, the only thing that’s missing are those fantastic cinnamon things.
“The Circus Arrives Without Warning” Mug
The Circus itself calls for a mug of tantalizing hot apple cider, so natural you’ll need something to drink it in while you read. This mug has the stripes of the circus but also includes the intriguing first line of the book.
Mugs. Mugs are a tricky thing in book boxes for me, because I’m so picky about them. I like heavy, intricate, cozy mugs. This handprinted mug from Lauren French Pottery checks all the boxes for me – she’s even painted it INSIDE.
Something Just For You
If you ever go to a carnival, circus, or even a renaissance faire, you must try the caramel corn. It’s a sweet, addictive snack that’s inexpensive, easy to share, and easy to carry. And, unlike fried dough/funnel cake (my other carnival weakness), it won’t get your hands all greasy so it’s also good for reading amazing books about magical circuses.
Anna’s Gourmet Popcorn comes to you from Ohio, and it’s a completely nut-free facility! The popcorn is made in small batches and the tins are even refillable… as long as you go to one of their walk in locations in Cincinnati or Mainville. That’s about a 11 hour drive for me, but if you’re in the area… go for it!
