Inside The Treasure Chest: Owlcrate Hidden Worlds Feb 2018

February OwlCrate Unboxing // “Hidden Worlds”

Posted March 5, 2018 by Amber in Unboxings / 2 Comments

Haha.  So.  I thought that The Hazel Wood was going to be January’s OwlCrate box – but lo and behold here we are in February!

I would like to apologize, foremost, because there is an incredible wall tapestry included in this box by Evie Bookish and it was so big, I couldn’t find a place to photograph it!  Guys, this designer is incredible and regardless of whether or not you want to subscribe to OwlCrate of got this amazing tapestry… do check out her Society6 store.  There are only a few designers I love enough to wholeheartedly recommend, and Evie is one of them.  We have this floor pillow and my cats are in love with it (even though it was intended for humans) soooo cats are a fan too!

Now, without further ado… the unboxing!

The Box

The Box

Um, so, if you watch my Instagram… or mostly anything lately, you’ll notice that we have a new shag throw rug?  It sits in a sunny corner and was intended for the kitties… but I find it makes an interesting photo backdrop!  And, even better, it requires zero setup.  I am the worst bookstagrammer, y’all.  I am so lazy.

The Loot List

The Loot List

This design reminds me of an old children’s book (or many videogame?) where you get to go tunneling and meet fantastic animals.  I adore this representation go “Hidden Worlds”, though!  When I think “Hidden Worlds”, I think the unseen fae on the other side of the veil, etc.  Lovin’ it!

The Candle

“Through the Wardrobe” Candle by VIVLYO.

This candle smells lovely… like freshness and pine and something old and loved.

The Necklace

Skeleton Key Necklace

This pendant is inspired by Coraline.  I really need to read that one – it’s definitely one of the more beloved of Neil Gaiman’s books.  I remember seeing the film ages ago and I love the button design on the top of the key.

The Sticker

Chibi Alice Sticker by Naomi Lord

AAAHHH this is so adorable! <3 <3 <3. My Alice in Wonderland heart is so so so so happy with this little vinyl sticker.  I don’t even have anything to really put vinyl stickers on but !!! my favorite item in this box.

The Pouch

Daughter of Smoke and Bone Pouch by Risa Rodil

Risa Rodil is another designer I’d recommend with all my heart and soul.  Evie Sao, Risa Rodil, and Megan Lara.  LOVE THEM ALL.  Risa has a special place in my heart because I love typography, so even though I have yet to read this book, I adore this pouch.  It’s all faux leathery as well and really sturdy.  Yessss.

The Book

The Hazel Wood by Melissa Albert

I’m a little nervous about this one, if I’m being honest.  Most the people I follow on Goodreads have given it a really low star rating, but the synopsis still sounds really interesting to me?  I have no real expectations for this one, so hopefully that helps?

It’s a twisted fairytale, it’s a journey story (I love those) and the cover is delightful?  I like the earthly feel of the OwlCrate exclusive cover, and all the bits and pieces in the design itself are stunning.  We’ll see!

  1. I love the Daughter of Smoke and Bone pouch. You should really read the book, it’s one of my favourites of all time. The Owl Crate looks good, I think it’s one of the best book boxes out there.

I really would like to read Daughter of Smoke and Bone – it’s on my TBR! … Along with about 600 other books, but I will get there! 🙂 I love Risa Rodil’s art. I have a mug and print from her Society6 shop, too.

I keep telling myself I’m going to stop getting OwlCrate since I already have so many books to read, but gosh darn it, it’s such a good box. The books are all exclusive editions and the quality of the swag is always great. I also like PageHabit and Fairyloot and augggh there are too many book boxes.
