Mini Hiatus Announcement – Caribbean Bound!

Posted March 2, 2019 by Amber in Real World / 8 Comments

Mes dames et monsieurs, ladies and gentlemen – I just wanted to pop in and let you know that I’m going to be gone for a week.

My husband and I are flying down to Fort Lauderdale today and from there we’ll be embarking on a short Caribbean cruise.  For those of you who have been with me since last spring, you’ll know that love cruises and have been on a couple already.  This time, we’re sailing on the Carnival Horizon, and we’ll be visiting Mexico, Grand Cayman, and Jamaica.

While I’m gone, my pre-scheduled posts will still be dropping as normal, so you should not be experiencing an interruption of service!  But, needless to say, I’ll be on vacation in the middle of the Caribbean Sea, so I won’t be responding to comments.  I’ll also probably miss some Bookstagram days, so I apologize for interruptions on that front as well.

I promise I’ll tell you all about it when I come back!

I’m currently planning for four posts, in a similar format to the travel series I did when we went to Europe last spring.  I’m planning to do a post about the Carnival Horizon, then I’ll try and give you a peek of each of the ports.

Full disclosure?  I’m a touristy person and I really like doing the cultural and historic tours when we travel abroad.  My husband humored me in Europe, but he’s taking back the Caribbean because he loves it down there, and he’s scheduled all but one of our excursions.  I’m not sure what types of photography opportunities I’m going to have, but I’ll do my darnedest!  I think we’re going zip lining (eek) and a Segway tour?

I dunno.  He’s very excited.

So I will see you all back in about a week, and I’ll be responding to all comments then!  In the meanwhile, I have a challenge for you guys.

I need more pirate books.

I’ve got Daughter of the Pirate King and I’ve started both the Gentleman Bastards and Shades of Magic series.  But I’m dying for more.  Pirate stories are some of my favorites – unless they’re really bad like Pirates of the Caribbean 5: Dead Men Tell No Tales.  That was just… … rough.

So hit me up!  Have you read any pirate books that you like?  Inquiring minds want to know.

Do you like to travel?

Have you been to the Caribbean?

Do you like to sightsee, or plan activities on vacation?

  1. Love to go on holiday obviously. I’ve never been abroad though can you believe, I’ve been exploring UK. So many beautiful places here. Have a great time. Also To Kill a Kingdom reminds me of a pirate book. 🙂

The UK is absolutely stunning and I would very much like to go back! Some day. 🙂 I did actually read To Kill a Kingdom last fall and I can see why it reminds you of a pirate book – it definitely has that vibe!

I hope you’re enjoying your cruise! It sounds wonderful! (except for the zip lining… that just sounds terrifying.)

And I haven’t read very many pirate books, but Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue and Lady’s Guide to Petticoats and Piracy (especially Lady’s Guide!) have some pretty great pirates, not to mention I just really love them.

Zip lining was totally terrifying and I am never ever doing it again. Ever.

I bought Lady’s Guide recently, even though I haven’t read Gent’s Guide, because it looks SO GOOD. It’s in the eternal TBR Jar, but I’m really looking forward to reading it!
