THREE THINGS ABOUT ME.

ONE

I love nerd culture but I feel like I don’t belong there.  I am not as knowledgeable or obsessed enough with anything as the Marvel, Star Wars, or Harry Potter aficionados.  I love the franchises though, but I feel like I’m never enough for them.  I will still happily try to cosplay or talk about them, but I feel like I’m quickly overridden and out of my league, so I tend to disappear.  Lover of many things, expert of none.

TWO

I can’t stand hot coffee, but the smell of it is one of my favorite things in the world.  Also, I love coffee ice cream, but can’t do iced coffee.  Not sure why.  But coffee oreo ice cream is amazing and a staple to my summers.  There’s a farmstand I like to go to not too far away that has the most amazing coffee oreo ice cream and I look forward to it all winter.

THREE

Even though I talk to people all day at work and manage workflows and collaborate with live humans in real time… I hate doing these things in my free time.  My happiest time of day is the early morning hours, when all is silent and the world is just waking up.  I love my husband and he’s about the only human I want to spend significant time with… but the quiet hours of the morning and are my favorites and I feel the most energized when I’m alone

LORETTA’S QUESTIONS:

IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE FOOD FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

Okay, so, I’ve thought about this a lot and the answer is tacos.

Tacos are like… sandwiches.  They can be so many things.  I mean, the Tex Mex version is one of my favorite foods anyway and I have been known to eat cold chicken tacos for breakfast because obviously I am a classy person and have resplendent meals.  But beyond basic tacos… you can put any (or no) meat in them, you can add any (or no) toppings.  They can be constructed or deconstructed.  There are even dessert tacos, and if I’m being honest, ChocoTacos were one of the food heroes of my childhood, bringing with them lots of happy beach memories.

WHAT WAS YOUR WORST READ/DNF OF 2018?

Um, so, this is where it really shows that I procrastinated on this tag. 🙂 Sorry, Loretta!  But I’m going to go with the questions anyway!

I think one of my absolute least favorite books last year was Blood Will Out by Jo Treggiari.  It was just such a poorly written book with the most shallow, poorly developed characters I’ve read.  Add to that the fact that there’s a decent amount of pointless animal cruelty and I’m out.  Absolutely hated this book and it is one of the ones that really made me be a bit more conscientious about the books I’m requesting on NetGalley.

WHAT WAS YOUR BEST?

I mean, I don’t think I’ve talked about it a lot, but there is one book that really stood out to me in 2018.  It’s this thick volume about a young girl who is ostracized by her family for a lapse in judgement that tarnished the already sullen family name, so rather than lock herself in a life of misery and servitude to her sister, or go to a nunnery, she runs away, challenging herself to find purpose in life every day.

Oh wait.

I have talked about this book!  Like, a lot.

It’s Tess of the Road. 😀  One of my very first reads of 2018, and one of my all-time favorite books.

WHAT’S THE BIGGEST BLOGGING GOAL YOU HAVE FOR THE NEW YEAR?

I actually do a post all about blogging goals every January! Some of my goals for this year included a book buying ban (fail), finishing my SEO updates (done!) and focusing more on the books I own… which I am rocking the second half of the year.  We’ll see what December brings for accountability on all of my goals, but I feel like I’m on track for about half them.

FUNNY QUESTION: WHAT FICTIONAL CHARACTER DO YOU IRRATIONALLY HATE?  OR WHAT’S AN IRRATIONAL BOOK PET PEEVE YOU HAVE?

Completely irrational, unfair, and unpopular?  Probably my absolute impatience with the cheesy romance in a lot of books.  I am more likely to toss away a book because the romance made me want to bang my head against a wall than almost anything else.  But it is what it is, and I’m okay with it.

MY THREE BEST POSTS

I think that “best” is really objective, but here are three posts I worked hard on and I’m not sure if they were actually good, but here are some fun ones (I think)

+ 10 Books to Movie Adaptations I Actually Loved
+ Reviews on Your Blog: Worth It?
+ It’s Time To Stop Judging People For The Way They Treat Their Books

SPREADING THE LOVE

For this award, I’d like to recognize the following five bloggers, who are lovely humans and deserve some love and attention.  When I do these award tags, I always give them to some of my favorite bloggers rather than arbitrarily choosing them… so while by no means does anyone have to accept this “award”… know that I am sending you heart bubbles!

+ Mandy & Sha @ Book Princess Reviews
+ Ayunda @ Ayundabhuwana’s Blog
+ Deanna @ Deanna Writes About
+ Chloe @ Marshmallow Pudding
+ Kal @ Reader Voracious

MY QUESTIONS FOR YOU:

  1. Autumn is here in the northern hemisphere!  What are your favorite fall reads?
  2. If you had a sidekick from a book in real life, who would you pick?
  3. What was the last book that enticed you with the cover alone?
  4. What was the last delicious thing you ate?
  5. A djinn appears and grants you three wishes.  They have to be selfish wishes (you can’t reverse climate change, unforch), and you can’t make someone come back from the dead or fall in love with you.  Other than that… what do you wish for?

Do you ever do blogging award posts?  I haven’t seen many of these circulating in the community this year, so I’m wondering if they’re going defunct.  Let me know what you think in the comments!

  1. Yeah, The Hunger Games and ABC’s OUAT were the only fandoms I actually felt like I was really IN, but I still was never at like a really completely obsessive level about anything? It’s weird cuz I like a lot of things too, but I don’t think I actually get THAT emotionally attached like I feel most other people do, so I don’t know if I’d consider myself an expert of anything either. I get how you feel.
Oooooh coffee oreo ice cream sounds amazing! It took me a long time to like coffee but I can only drink them in mochas. It has to be really sweet for me to handle it. XD
If I could survive on any food for the rest of my life it’d be pasta without getting fat. XD
I really liked all your answers! Oh I tagged you for the Finally Fall Tag on my blog btw if you want to do it. 🙂

I think you hit the nail on the head there – emotional attachment. I love things, but I guess I don’t need them the way other people do? And that’s okay? I used to feel super left out about it, but these days I’m mostly okay, as long as I’m not talking to a superfan who is making me feel inadequate lol. Most of them are really nice.

I will definitely save the Finally Fall Tag – thanks for the heads up! 🙂 🙂 I’m collecting tags to do in 2020 right now, so this is so perfect, thank you!!
