I don’t normally do this, but I wanted to leave a little space on the blog today to wish a very happy book birthday to The Silvered Serpents and congratulations to author Roshani Chokshi on her publication day!
I was lucky enough to receive a copy of The Silvered Serpents early and by complete coincidence, started reading it just a couple weeks before the pandemic started. I read my eBooks slowly so I’d been enjoying this work a handful of pages at a time, in the between places. Looking back, I really couldn’t be more grateful for that ARC. Not just because it’s awesome to get ARCs of your anticipated releases, but the timing couldn’t be better.
In the early days of the pandemic, I didn’t know what to do. Back then, we foolishly thought it would clear up quickly. A couple weeks, a couple months? Certainly not the marathon we’ve experienced. When the world is as heavy and broken as ours has been these last months, there is no comfort quite like a good book. I loved The Gilded Wolves and each one of the characters in that story. I love found family books, magical histories, beautiful mysteries hidden in plain sight. The world is crafted so closely to my tastes. In the early days of the pandemic, The Silvered Serpents became my safe escape from the world.
Additionally, Roshani Chokshi has quickly earned her place as one of my favorite authors through her gorgeous writing. She’s the type of author who leaves me breathless with respect at her world crafting even in some of the most insignificant descriptions. I’ve seen a lot of love for her lately as one of her Instagram pictures resurfaced on Twitter and people are just now realizing how beautiful she is. She’s also hilarious – I adore her Reels on Instagram – and talented, and bakes things that look marvelously delicious. In many of the best ways, Rosh reminds me of Laila. I’ve been following her social media since I started reading The Gilded Wolves and she is such a social media queen.
I guess what I’m trying to say here is that I loved The Silvered Serpents and it was really meaningful to me this year, and Roshani Chokshi herself has been a light in that she makes me smile with both her writing (I also read The Star-Touched Queen earlier this year) and her social media presence. If you haven’t read The Gilded Wolves yet, I can’t recommend it highly enough. This is truly one of my favorite series and I am so excited that book two, The Silvered Serpents, is out in the world today. I eagerly anticipate book three!
And, if you’ve been meaning to pick up The Silvered Serpents and just haven’t had a chance yet, Rosh’s recommended bookshop is Little Shop of Stories. My copy is coming from there! 🙂
Have you read The Gilded Wolves and do you intend to read The Silvered Serpents? If so, how was your favorite character? Mine is far and away Zofia… but tell me yours in the comments!
