November Wrap Up

November Wrap Up

Well this is going to be a short post. Remember last month when I got a gazillion books and everything was busy and I read all the posts and was awesome?  This month is the exact opposites.  My beautiful people, I have been DYING to finish La Belle Sauvage.  To catch up on NCIS or Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.  None of these things are happening. On the bright side, I am making a little bit of pocket change working overtime.  So there’s that?  My brother-in-law told me a couple weeks ago, “You always find the silver lining, huh?” and I told him, […]

My Day at Rhode Island Comic Con!

My Day at Rhode Island Comic Con!

Last Saturday, a small group of us went up to Rhode Island Comic Con.  We went last year and it’s SO COOL but also a big bundle of stress.  I remember going last year and telling myself “Okay, so the panels are awesome, but if we ever go again, can we NOT go on Saturday?!”  So of course, we went on Saturday again. RICC is one of the biggest fan conventions on the east coast, right after NYCC.  I live a lot closer to Rhode Island, so that’s my con of choice.  Like SDCC and NYCC, it’s huge.  It has […]

The Halfway Update, Including Ragnarok & Stranger Things

The Halfway Update, Including Ragnarok & Stranger Things

Hello my beautiful people!  Happy Monday! November’s already halfway over, and for you Americans like me, we’re just a little over a week until Thanksgiving – ack!  I haven’t even gotten a turkey yet, and we’re still finalizing plans.  I’m a super organized person, but my extended family isn’t, so I’m losing my mind!  But that glorious turkey coma will be worth it in the end.  Turkey, gravy, mashed potatoes and green beans is one of my top three dinners, so I’m looking forward to it. Well, I’ve been a busy bumblebee these last two weeks.  Work continues to be crazy […]

October Wrap-Up

October Wrap-Up

Well my dears, it’s here! October has packed her bags and gotten away from me again.  Every year I feel like I’m chasing the autumnal delights of this month, and I just can’t keep up with it!  It’s my favorite time of year, but it’s also one of the busiest times of year, and it just slips away.  I come out at the end panting like it’s been a marathon but the loot was well worth it!  The leaves are off the trees, the air is getting crisp… winter is just around the corner. Well this month was actually WORSE than the […]

The Things Nobody Wants to Talk About: My Miscarriage Story

The Things Nobody Wants to Talk About: My Miscarriage Story

It’s hard to find representation in fiction for the horrible things that happen in life.  I think that the reason for this, in short, is because nobody wants to read about cancer.  Nobody wants to read about ALS.  Nobody wants to read about miscarriage.  These are the things in our society that we prefer not to talk about.  We’ll talk about how people are “strong” and “brave” when they suffer from terminal illness, or heartbreak, or injustice.  But in our books and movies, we don’t want to talk about the ugly side of it.  Who would buy that book?  It’s […]

On Autumn Weddings & Illnesses

On Autumn Weddings & Illnesses

BOY OH BOY GUYS. The last couple weeks were exhausting, but rewarding. These are the times that I am so grateful that I have pre-scheduled SO MANY posts.  The first week of October saw a lot of last minute wedding planning that had me running around like a chicken with my head cut off.  The first weekend of the month saw 12-14 hours with my best friends helping them bring the last of things together.  It was worth it, though, because their wedding was perfect and beautiful. The wedding I don’t have any proper wedding pictures to share with you, so […]
