WIP Introductions: Rhapsody in Blue

WIP Introductions: Rhapsody in Blue

Oh hello! I … allude to my WIPs a lot, but I don’t really talk about them very much?  It’s like they’re this secret I hold close to my heart, characters I’ve developed and stories I’ve dreamed up that will never completely materialize.  Sometimes, around NaNo, I talk about them a little.  But in general… they’re sweet coconut crisp secrets. Which is you know. Fine. Whatever.  Because every time I get excited enough about a WIP to talk about it on my blog, I get distracted by another shiny idea, or life, or whatever, and honestly guys I am never going […]

Five Things I Learned From Camp NaNo 2018

Five Things I Learned From Camp NaNo 2018

Posted August 1, 2018 in My Stories, Writing // 11 Comments

Ladies and gentlemen, I’ve done it.  On Sunday, July 29th I validated my Camp NaNoWriMo novel.  Even my word processor – Dabble – was excited for me.  I got confetti fireworks and everything. As I’m writing this post on the 29th – mere seconds after validating – it feels… wrong.  I hate looking at this beautiful, delightful winner’s screen and feeling like I cheated.  Because, in a way, I have. For me, part of what makes NaNoWriMo, NaNoWriMo is finishing the novel.  And I haven’t.  I’m nowhere near.  This is one of the reasons why I tend to drift towards Camp […]

Beautiful Books 2017: Ashes to Ashes

Beautiful Books 2017: Ashes to Ashes

So when I originally saw this prompt on Paper Fury, I was 100% definitely going to use The Story Collector, a story I’ve been picking at for three years and is super long and nowhere near done.  But for the last week or so, I’ve had an invasive story burrowing in my mind.  Does anyone else have this problem?  Where you have way more story ideas than time?  I have a whole notebook of ideas.  Enough for a dozen novels on top of the drafts I already have and need both editing and sequels. This one has been invasive, though. I try […]

Meet Olive – Beautiful People #27

I CAN’T BELIEVE I ALMOST FORGOT THIS. I wanted to join in this meme in July, then I told myself “I’ll wait until August!” … then I forgot again!  But now it is the end of the month and it’s not QUITE too late so, haha!  I’m doing the thing. Soooo. Beautiful People is a monthly WRITING meme hosted by Cait @ Paperfury and Sky @ Further Up & Further In.  It’s all about our WIP and writing and CHARACTERS.  Which are my favorite of all favorites, so I’m really excited to answer these questions. For this month, I’m going to […]

I’m Trying Aesthetic Boards Because Why Not?

I’m Trying Aesthetic Boards Because Why Not?

Posted August 23, 2017 in My Stories, Writing // 11 Comments

I’ve noted that a lot of the writerly blogpeople I follow like to make aesthetic boards on Pinterest to inspire their souls.  I have NEVER tried this before, but the conscensus seems to be that it’s the BEES KNEES. So I’m pretty good and stuck on The Land of Dark and Broken Things so I figured – HEY, WHY NOT? So. In short – The Land of Dark and Broken Things… It evolved from ‘Tweens (which is now a quartet because remember that old plot? Gone).  There’s a four-part world of imagination that is rotting and becoming corrupted as its source (human […]
