Did I Pass the 30 Before 30 Test?

Did I Pass the 30 Before 30 Test?

So. Yesterday was my 30th birthday.  It’s something I’ve been a bit anxious about – 30 is that definitive where you’re no longer in your 20s and you’re supposed to be an adult and you know where your life is going… and that’s scary, you know?  I’ve been trying not to think about this transition between 29 and 30, especially because I’m not a birthday person. However, it’s always nice not to be alone, and one of my favorite bloggers, Tizzy @ Dusting the Soul, celebrated her 30th birthday in July.  Last year, she posted a 30 Before 30 list […]

The Newbie’s Guide to BookCon aka my BookCon 2019 Experience

The Newbie’s Guide to BookCon aka my BookCon 2019 Experience

Sooo, I did a thing. A couple months ago, I let slip that my brother talked me into going to BookCon 2019 this year.  I’d heard a little about BookCon and other bookish conventions through Twitter, but I’m not deep into those spots in the blogosphere, so it wasn’t a desperate wishlist item for me.  I thought I would casually go and check it out, but after I started to research, it became readily apparent that this was gonna be some Comic Con level stuff, and I needed to up my game. Rather than just having a brag fest here […]

Apparently I’m Going to BookCon Next Month & Now I Have Some Questions

Apparently I’m Going to BookCon Next Month & Now I Have Some Questions

Last year, my brother and his girlfriend went to BookCon.  He was so excited – he kept texting me while he was there, and at the time, he wasn’t even a reader.  This wonderful girl, a handful of proper books, and BookCon converted him. When tickets went on sale, I received a series of text messages which, in summary went like this: HIM:  ARE YOU GOING TO BOOKCON. ME:  Huh? HIM:  BOOKCON TICKETS ARE ON SALE. HIM:  YOU SHOULD GO. HIM:  YOU SHOULD GOOOOOOOOOOOOO ME:  Um, that’s really close to the time we’re probably moving. HIM:  GO ME:  Matt’s going […]

The Ancient City of Tulum (Caribbean Cruise 4/4)

The Ancient City of Tulum (Caribbean Cruise 4/4)

The final leg of our Caribbean cruise adventure landed the Carnival Horizon at the port of Cozumel.  My husband was looking forward to the Cozumel stop, because he’d been there before.  The night before, he animatedly told me, “Make sure your camera is ready!  Cozumel is a beautiful port!”  It had been about ten years since he had last been to Cozumel, and he was excited to see it again. But, we never went to Cozumel, although the ship docked there.  Instead, we boarded a water taxi that took us across to Playa de Carmen. Playa de Carmen was still […]

Grand Cayman (Caribbean Cruise 3/4)

Grand Cayman (Caribbean Cruise 3/4)

Over the last couple Saturdays I’ve discussed a little about our latest cruise adventure to the Caribbean.  Last week, I shared Jamaica, where my husband I went zip lining, river tubing, and waterfall jumping.  The week before I introduced you to our ship, the Carnival Horizon. Today, I’m going to talk a little bit about port #2 – Grand Cayman. The Cayman Islands were first discovered in about the 17th century – and in this case, I do mean discovered as there didn’t appear to be previous indigenous inhabitants prior to settlers.  Originally claimed by pirates, deserters, and the shipwrecked, the […]

Ocho Rios, Jamaica (Caribbean Cruise 2/4)

Ocho Rios, Jamaica (Caribbean Cruise 2/4)

Good morning everyone! I hope everybody is having a fabulous Saturday! Today, I want to tune in and talk about my trip to the Caribbean!  Last week, in a torturously long post, I introduced you to the ship we sailed this time around, Carnival Horizon.  If you’re interested in cruising (yessss do it) and you want to hear about my experience with this cruise line, definitely check out that post! This week, I’m taking you into the Caribbean and we’ll be visiting our first port-of-call:  Ocho Rios, Jamaica. You’ll find that much like our Transatlantic Cruise last spring, my husband […]
