  This book is so charming that it left me smiling even when I wasn’t reading it. Anne of Green Gables is a classic I watched growing up, then read as an adult.  While the miniseries from the early 1980s is fantastic, the book is even better because it has so many more of Anne’s little adventures to share.  It took me years to pick it up, not because I was avoiding it, but because I hadn’t really thought about it.  I’m so glad I did because Anne Shirley is my new bosom friend.   I had a difficult time starting this book. I read the first ten pages probably a gazillion times, on different eReaders. Once I got through the first chapter, I was hooked. This is exactly the kind of book I enjoy reading. Martin takes the reader through a variety of different characters, each with their own subplots, each indispensable to the over arching plot of the book, and the overarching plot of the series.
