I’m positively enchanted by Enchantée. I must admit, when I requested this ARC from NetGalley, I had my reservations.  This is one of those examples where the online bookish community really came through for me.  I discovered Enchantée through a giveaway on Roshani Chokshi’s page.  There was a massive joint giveaway for six ARCs upcoming in 2019, and when I got to Gita Trelease’s page, Enchantée stood out.  Why?  The cover is freaking gorgeous. So when I saw it on NetGalley, I figured – sure, I’ll request that!  Two weeks-ish later, I got my acceptance email, and I read 40% of the book that first […]

I love that his book was both science fiction and fantasy.  I love that it was built on hope and war and poetry.  I loved this book. I haven’t seen or heard much of Mirage in the bookish world, only the FairyLoot and OwlCrate unboxing photos.  I am here to tell you that this book is magnificent.  It is sad, but it is also rich and passionate.  The characters flow off the page and the flavors and aromas seem to surround you.  I really, really liked it. Mirage is several things – it is a love story, it is a […]

I really liked it, and I’d like to break down for you why I did. First of all, I’m not going to go out and say that Alice, or Finch, or Ella, or any of them were great characters.  I’m usually a character reader, but when a world has been built […]

Oh, Caraval I really, really, really wanted to like this book.  I was so excited when I got it in my OwlCrate back in February!  Everything everyone was saying about this book was sparklers and fireworks and spellbinding magic.  A lot of it still is!  There were certainly aspects of this book that I enjoyed, but overall, it just wasn’t for me. Characters I immediately disliked all of the characters.  I just couldn’t bring myself to care about any of them.  They were too flat and quickly changing for my tastes.  Dontella’s characterization was immediately selfish and foolish whereas Scarlett […]
