Books I Meant to Read In 2018 but Didn’t Get To

In June, it feels like there’s soooooo much time left in the year to work towards my annual goals and stuff, but dang.  The end of the year really snuck up on me in 2018.  I was going strong with the 2018 Debut Authors Challenge, and then about halfway through the year it occurred to me that I should probably start reading the debuts exclusively until I caught up.  Then those took me right to the end of the year, with An Absolutely Remarkable Thing just squeaking by. This year, I’m not actively participating in the debut authors challenge (says the girl who’s read three […]

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

I don’t remember the first time I read this book, but between years of reading it every December, watching one of the many excellent film renditions, and 3 years performing in a stage show derived from the original text… I know most of An Christmas Carol by heart.  It’s Dickens’ classic Christmas story – a miserly old man is visited by three ghosts Christmas morning and make him see his own cruelty and malice and inspire him to change his outlook on people and the world.  He is filled with Christmas spirit, and his heart grows three sizes.  In some […]

How A Christmas Carol Became My Holiday Film

How A Christmas Carol Became My Holiday Film

July is gone, and I’m posting this today so I can focus on Harry Potter’s birthday tomorrow.  I swear, I’m not a Harry Potter nerd. LIES! #Ravenclaw4Life I’ve had mixed feelings about this month’s books.  There’ve been a couple of DNFs, but on the other hand there were books that I really loved!  It was a high/low month and nothing inbetween. THE JULY HAUL I had a good run at Barnes & Noble earlier in the month, and I’m beginning to clear out my audible credits as well. JULY READS WRITING LIFE In a touch of insanity, I decided to […]

So Many Classics! #MailboxMonday

So Many Classics! #MailboxMonday

Mailbox Mondays are hosted by the ladies over on the Mailbox Monday blog.  What finds have you added to your collection this week? GUYS GUYS GUYS. I am so excited because it’s been an ETERNITY since I bought books for myself. Like, real books.  Audible gives me two audiobooks a month, but those cannot grace my glorious bookshelves! AH SO EXCITED. But seriously, the reason I never buy books anymore is, frankly, I AM OUT OF ROOM.  It’s tragic.  I have 2.5 bookcases now in our small apartment, and the third is empty in the office that was supposed to be a […]
