My Ten Favorite Book Subjects (The Data Speaks!)

My Ten Favorite Book Subjects (The Data Speaks!)

Hi all! This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is all about the longest books you’ve ever read.  While this is a great topic, it’s very similar to The Mountain Book Tag which I did earlier this year, so rather than repeat content, I thought I’d bring you a different top ten… one of my very own. This week, I want to talk about my top 10 book tags!  This isn’t in regard to Book Tags in the traditional sense… these are subject tags I use on my LibraryThing account.  For all the books I’ve read, I go through and tag them with […]

The Awesome Blogger Award – #awesomebloggeraward

The Awesome Blogger Award – #awesomebloggeraward

The very sweet Aria over at Snow White Hates Apples nominated me for the Awesome Blogger Award! This is an award for the absolutely wonderful writers all across the blogging world. They have beautiful blogs, are kind and lovely, and always find a way to add happiness and laughter to the lives of their readers. That is what truly defines an awesome blogger. Award founder, Maggie over at Dreaming of Guatemala, created this one back in April and I’m so excited to get this AND the Sunshine Blogger Award last week because they are both all about blogs that add […]

BAM! POW! ZAP! Insta-Reads from Buzzwords – #Top5Tuesdays

Good morning my sweet centaurs! I bounced back and forth about whether or not I was going to participate in this week’s top five, as buzzwords aren’t really my thing.  When I think buzzwords, I think phrases like “wildly popular” and “long-anticipated” etc. etc.  Then I decided, ANY word can be a buzz word if it gives me that warm, bumblebee feeling in my bones. As always, Top 5 Tuesdays are hosted by Shanah @ The Bionic Bookworm, and her prompt is: Top 5 buzzwords that make me want to read a book. Pirate I am a sucker for pirate […]

Top Ten Classics You Should Read Before You Die

Top Ten Classics You Should Read Before You Die

When people ask me what I like to read, my answer is “fantasy, classics, and historical fiction”.  For some reason, the one that folks have the most difficult time wrapping their head around is “classics.”  I can’t imagine why.  These books have laid the groundwork for the novels people devour today, and so many of them still hold their own.  Whether it’s the beauty of the language, or the vivacity of the story, every classic is worth picking up. For the purpose of this list, I’ve excluded all non-fiction as well as the books that will almost definitely be red […]

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court by Mark Twain

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court by Mark Twain

Firstly, I really want to say that I liked this book. I didn’t read a lot of Mark Twain when I was younger, and I wish I had, because I find his writing style to be very tongue-in-cheek and it amuses me. That said, even with the time lapse between now and when this book was written, it’s still very applicable in that it gives you something to think about even if the technology is out of date. It may be perceived by some as a little bit sexist, but I really liked the narrator’s conversations with Sandy, particularly when […]
