My loves, when you read this I should be standing in line waiting to get into Disneyland. I imagine it will be warm and sunny and I’ll be eagerly checking and double-checking everything because I don’t know the layout of the park. I’ll be with my spouse and a friend and 100% ready to prove to her that fun at Disney Parks is contagious (or at least it is when you go with me!). Where I am while I’m writing this isn’t too bad either. It’s a beautiful day outside – sunny, but not too hot and there’s a light, […]

So July… happened! It ended up being an interesting month for us here, some rollercoaster days, but generally better than June. The one thing I don’t love? The heat. I’m sure y’all have read that 2022 is on-pace to be the hottest summer on record and I am not a fan. There are reasons why I live way up here in New England with all its seasons and 91-degrees at 6am is not one of those reasons. Things I am grateful for – the shade, fans, air conditioning (which I didn’t have most my life so I am still in […]

Good morning everyone! You may have noticed that my posting has slowed down this month. Not just the once-a-week content posts, but also a startling lack of reviews. Usually, The Literary Phoenix is rife with reviews! A few things have happened behind the scenes for me that have led to some content choices. A lot of them are personally driven. I’m trying to balance my time and energy and I really never want to come to a place where I want to leave this space. Blogging has been too important to me for too long. In many ways, it feels […]

I’m Stuck in a Re-Writing Cycle

I really love to write. I don’t always have the time for it, but every time I’m able to sit downpour long enough to fall into a story, I’m swept away. I love to tell the stories and create the characters. I have hundreds of story ideas. But realistically? I zero manuscripts that are truly completed and ready for query. Sure – I’ve finished first drafts on many! But I can’t seem to get past that point. See: Fate. For those who check-in on my monthly wrap ups, I have a section to share writing updates. Since my crit partner […]

So Much to Do and So Little Time – My April 2022 Wrap Up

So Much to Do and So Little Time – My April 2022 Wrap Up

Good morning everyone! April went by so fast. Just me? I feel like I entered this month with so many plots and plans and suddenly it was April 29th and I was building my monthly touch base agendas for the month and now I’m writing this wrap up. When I really think about it, I believe April was more just busy than it was short (because, you know, all months are the same length give or take a couple days). If I didn’t have something going on over the weekend, it was a work event or dramatics during the week. […]
