Not Much Reading, or Writing, Oops! – The October Wrap Up

Not Much Reading, or Writing, Oops! – The October Wrap Up

This will be short and sweet loves as I’m frantically writing this about twelve hours before it goes live.  Busy, busy lately! Another small book-buying month!  These are all pre-orders and book box items. 🙂 And, guys?  The Girl the Sea Gave Back was a hard-won battle.  I’ve been having more and more issues with Book Depository… to the point where I don’t think I’m going to buy from them anymore once all my pre-orders come through.  They were fine for a while, but this year I’ve had 2 books that were sent and then lost by USPS apparently, for […]

Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Eragon by Christopher Paolini

Eragon is one of those books I feel a strong connection to, because I read it over and over again in my youth.  I grew up with both Eragon and Eldest, even though I didn’t finish the cycle until I was an adult.  The story of the dragon rider and the evil king captured my imagination, as tales of good and evil are wont to do. There is a bittersweet sadness to coming back to a book I loved so much as a high schooler only to find it riddled with flaws.  I want so desperately to be in love with Eragon […]

Unpopular Bookish Opinions: In Which I Discuss the Grishaverse, J.K. Rowling, and DNF-ing.

Good morning everyone and welcome to this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post!  I know I haven’t been participating consistently in this meme, but this week, I couldn’t resist!  I think all of us bloggers have some solid opinions about what we do and don’t like, and sometimes it’s difficult to express those opinions for fear of backlash. But I am always one for a salty post… so I’m totally here for this.  Y’all ready?  I’ve got some unpopular bookish opinions for y’all. This may be one of my new favorite GIFs, by the way.  I’ve used it twice in the […]

Let’s Go On An Adventure: Excellent Epic Fantasy – #TopTenTuesday

I love love LOVE fantasy. I’ve spoken before as to why this genre has a special place in my heart, but like all genres, there are sub-genres to consider!  Over the years, I’ve actually come to love a few different aspects of fantasy… but my first love was epic fantasy.  These intense tales with intricate created worlds, mythical creatures, and magical systems have always tickled my imagination. In celebration of some of these timeless stories, I’d like to share some pretty great epic fantasy stories. The Inheritance Cycle Christopher Paolini While this series has gotten a lot of negative reviews […]

The Worst Movies Adapted from Books

The Worst Movies Adapted from Books

One of the most difficult aspects of being a reader is the inevitable disappointment of falling head over heels in love with a book, losing your mind with excitement when a movies goes into production, then having a film be absolutely THE WORST. It’s so heartbreaking.  And it’s an endless cycle.  We know the movie won’t live up to our expectations.  Then we get excited for the next book.  And on and on it goes!  I’ve written about this a couple times, in discussion of the monstrosity that was Eragon, and more recently with my broken heart and Ready Player […]

Please Remake ERAGON. I’m Begging You.

Please Remake ERAGON. I’m Begging You.

Eragon needs to be rebooted into a PROPER movie. How many of you have seen the Eragon movie?  It was embarrassing. Truly horrible.  It’s not often that a book-to-film adaptation is so bad NOBODY wants to watch it, and I believe Eragon falls into that category.  The series is fast-paced, interesting, and fun.  I think we can we all agree that this is a gripping story about a boy and his dragon.  While we love Toothless and Hiccup, we need more.  Since The Inheritance Cycle is four books long, we could get FIVE movies out of this deal if we play our cards […]
