OMG This Song Book Tag

OMG This Song Book Tag

I would not call myself a music lover.  I listen to stuff all over the place – I listen to Benny Goodman AND I listen to Kesha.  So.  Wide range.  But I don’t have refined tastes.  If I like the lyrics or if the song sets my heart on fire, I’m all about it.  Of course, this means that a lot of my playlists come from the top 40 for various years, then start branching out as, “hey, I like this song, maybe I’ll like more from this artist.” So wait.  Why am I talking about music? Because today, we’re […]

Bookish Things That Aren’t Books – Some Fab Swag I Love

Bookish Things That Aren’t Books – Some Fab Swag I Love

There are two reasons why I keep subscribing to book boxes. The first is that OwlCrate has forced me to step out of my comfort zone and try new things.  For example, The Hearts We Sold and Foolish Hearts are books I wouldn’t have picked up on my own, and I loved them both.  Also the exclusive covers are a huge perk for me. The second reason is the swag! Frankly speaking, if you don’t enjoy the swag in a book box, there’s really no point in subscribing.  The books themselves, even in hard copy at full price, still come to about […]

Mid-Year Freak Out Tag! (2018)

Mid-Year Freak Out Tag! (2018)

I really wanted to do this tag last year, and it just didn’t work out with my posting schedule.  This year, I bookmarked the tag from the lovely Lia @ Lost in a Story and I am ready to DO THIS THING. ARE YOU READY TO FREAK OUT?! The Best Book You’ve Read So Far in 2018 Gosh this one is hard.  I’ve read a lot of really fantastic books so far this year and it’s so hard to pick JUST ONE.  I think I have to go with Tess of the Road, because it’s the one that spoke to me […]

Beautiful Books and What They Hide Beneath

Beautiful Books and What They Hide Beneath

I recently became aware that hardback books have hidden covers. I read all my hardcover books with the dust jackets on!  I feel like I’ve been missing out on this whole magnificent world.  So, recently, I went through all the hardbacks on my shelf and discovered that about 10% of them do have something beneath the cover. Some of these things are fairly simple, like Sapphique by Catherine Fisher, which only has a simple emboss of the keyhole from the cover art. Others are more practical, like the Paranormalcy series by Kiersten White, which show the titles in simple foil. I have […]

January Wrap Up

January Wrap Up

2018 is off to a roaring start, n’est pas, mes chers?  I’ve not been subtle about how much 2017 stunk for me, so I’m absolutely thrilled with the way January has unwound so far.  I hope everyone else has had a good start, too! I ended up with quite a good haul this month – after a slow December on NetGalley, I ended up being granted 5 books.  I timed my requests so that there’s nothing immediate, so reading them shouldn’t be a challenge (The Phantom Tree releases in August!). I believe there’s a lot of little ones in this set… Blood Will […]

The 90s Kid Book Tag

The 90s Kid Book Tag

Guys I love book tags.  I may not do them very often, but they’re always so much fun.  I wanted to create my own!  I’ve looked high and low, but I haven’t found a 90s Kid Book Tag yet.  We 90s kids are hugely nostalgic, so this came as a bit of a surprise to me!  I had to make one. Originally, this tag had about 40 items (oops).  I’ve cut it way down to what I thought were the most interesting ones… and if you weren’t a 90s kid – don’t worry!  I’ve tried to explain some of our […]
