And just like that, my favorite month of the year is over.  We’re dipping into winter up here in New England – what’s left of the beautiful leaves have faded to brown, but most the trees are skeleton bare.  The air is chilly and just a few days ago, we had our first snow frosting. And so, here we are.  To quote Game of Thrones… winter is coming. Overall, it was a good month.  I had a lot more interactivity than I’m used to, particular for this year.  We had the opportunity at the beginning of the month to connect with […]

Ghost Wood Song started off so strong for me.  It had a very different Southern setting rather than a New Orleans or Virginia feel we usually get from books set in the American South.  And it was immediately spooky, with a very “The Devil Went Down to Georgia” vibe.  For about the first 50 pages, I loved this book. Then it fizzled out. The characters, I soon learned, were very internalized.  Now, that’s just fine depending on what you’re looking for in a book. I am primarily a character reader, so having them closed off like that was a […]

Fall is Here! And So Is My September Wrap Up!

Hello beautiful people, and happy September?  I LOVE this time of year!  Since we didn’t go on any vacations this year, I saved up my precious paid-time-off and put it all into the fall because there’s no time I’d rather sleep in and linger lazily outdoors.  Summer is a little too warm for my comfort – but autumn?  Autumn in New England is one of the most beautiful things. And with the changing leaves and the smell of backyard campfires in the air, I’m doing my absolute best to remain positive.  The loss of Ruth Bader Ginsburg hit me hard […]

So Long Sweet Summer – My August Wrap Up

So Long Sweet Summer – My August Wrap Up

I cannot tell you all how grateful I am that the heat has finally broken here in New England.  In line with the coming storm season, we’ve had either sunny days or massive thunderstorms and nothing in between, and I am LIVING for it.  I love thunderstorm season – there’s something to that electricity that makes me feel so alive. Also, feeling grateful because a massive might-as-well-be-a-whole-tree branch missed falling on our house by about six feet.  With a little help from the wind we avoided some serious damage – the thing took down all the saplings in its wake […]

Here we are everyone, in the first days of August, the summer mostly over.  I guess one of the good things about 2020 is that it’s really flying by.  I didn’t really expect that because … well … we’re all stuck at home.  Or at least, I am!  The United States has honestly been atrocious with handling COVID-19.  There are “guidelines” in place, but only about half the citizens I’ve seen out and about actually follow them.  … It’s so basic y’all! *huff puff* ANYWAY. Still, a lot of positive movement this summer.  Let’s just dig in and I’ll tell you […]
