House-Hunting, ARC Reviews, & a SMALL HAUL WHO AM I EVEN? – The September Wrap Up

House-Hunting, ARC Reviews, & a SMALL HAUL WHO AM I EVEN? – The September Wrap Up

Good morning everyone!  September is swinging to a close and here in Massachusetts… we are fully immersed in autumn.  The leaves are beginning to go a little red-orange around the edges and the mornings have been crisp and cool.  When I leave for work in the mornings, I can smell woodsmoke and for me?  That’s the truest sign that fall have arrived. This is my favorite season – I thrive in fall.  I feel more alive September – November than I do the rest of the year and I try to live these months to my fullest… which means getting out […]

Homerooms and Hall Passes by Tom O’Donnell

Homerooms and Hall Passes by Tom O’Donnell

This is definitely not the type of book I would normally pick up for myself.  Even as this ARC has been sneaking closer and closer to the top of my TBR, I’ve found myself dreading it.  It’s just so… solidly… not something I would have chosen, based on the cover and the description? But I gotta be honest, y’all.  Homerooms and Hall Passes was actually pretty entertaining! At no point did this book take itself seriously, and thank goodness for that because if this took itself seriously, it would have been intolerable.  There were a lot of chuckle moments.  Now, right off the […]

Time to be Accountable… My Off-the-Grid Readathon IV Review

Time to be Accountable… My Off-the-Grid Readathon IV Review

Good morning my beautiful monsters and happy Friday! Last weekend, I participated in the Off-The-Grid Readathon.  I love this ruleless readathon, because it helps me bust through my TBR.  It’s a bit difficult to tell who is participating, because “off the grid” means put away your phone!  I’ve got to be honest – I didn’t do as well with the “put away your phone” aspect this time, but I did unplug from the television, so for me that was pretty good. I had modest goals for this quarter’s readathon.  As you may remember from my TBR post, I worked all […]

The June Wrap Up: With Movies, MasterClass, & SO MANY BOOKS

The June Wrap Up: With Movies, MasterClass, & SO MANY BOOKS

Happy July everyone! This month reminds me of picnics and spending summers at the lake by my family.  We didn’t have a lake house or anything, but there was a really nice beach in bicycling distance and there were some summers when we were there every day. Ah, life was so much simpler when I was twelve. Intense haul this month, mostly due to BookCon on June 1st, and a whole lot of ARCs?  Seriously, y’all are going to be drowning in book reviews in September because most of these books are published in September/October.  I’m both sorry for the […]

Books On My Summer 2019 TBR – #TopTenTuesday

Books On My Summer 2019 TBR – #TopTenTuesday

At the beginning of the year, I was really good about TBRs. I was using my Novel Companion and filling out the TBR page every month and coloring it in and everything.  Then I began packing and I moved and now I don’t even know where the Novel Companion is and TBRs stopped happening and everything is fine, I swear. I generally do okay without a TBR because I have a TBR Jar and I have ARCs and everything, but it is sorta nice to have it all laid out?  So while I don’t usually participate in the TBR posts… […]

The Newbie’s Guide to BookCon aka my BookCon 2019 Experience

The Newbie’s Guide to BookCon aka my BookCon 2019 Experience

Sooo, I did a thing. A couple months ago, I let slip that my brother talked me into going to BookCon 2019 this year.  I’d heard a little about BookCon and other bookish conventions through Twitter, but I’m not deep into those spots in the blogosphere, so it wasn’t a desperate wishlist item for me.  I thought I would casually go and check it out, but after I started to research, it became readily apparent that this was gonna be some Comic Con level stuff, and I needed to up my game. Rather than just having a brag fest here […]
