10 Books Outside of my Comfort Zone (That I Really Liked!) – #TopTenTuesday

10 Books Outside of my Comfort Zone (That I Really Liked!) – #TopTenTuesday

I have a pretty specific set of books I like to read: YA Fantasy.  Sometimes I will shift from one of these – Adult Fantasy! YA Contemporary!  But my favorite is still YA Fantasy.  However, shifting far enough out of this genre to get into something really different?  So rare.  A book really need to catch my attention.  In fact? Half the time, even if it does, I’ll add it to my TBR and when it gets to the front of the line, I’ll say “eh no”. But I keep adding these books because – you never know!  Sometimes, I really, really like […]

January Wrap Up

January Wrap Up

2018 is off to a roaring start, n’est pas, mes chers?  I’ve not been subtle about how much 2017 stunk for me, so I’m absolutely thrilled with the way January has unwound so far.  I hope everyone else has had a good start, too! I ended up with quite a good haul this month – after a slow December on NetGalley, I ended up being granted 5 books.  I timed my requests so that there’s nothing immediate, so reading them shouldn’t be a challenge (The Phantom Tree releases in August!). How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming by Mike Brown

How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming by Mike Brown

I don’t usually go looking for memoirs.  And I definitely don’t seek out science books.  For as fascinated as I am by science fiction, reading actual scientific fact usually bores me.  I want adventure!  I want the high seas and forbidden magic!  Something!  The fact that How I Killed Pluto and Why It Had It Coming landed on my TBR at all was uncanny – the fact that it survived four years on my TBR without being cut is a miracle. I’m really glad it did, because I found this book informative and fascinating. In short, this is the story of […]
