So Long Sweet Summer – My August Wrap Up

I cannot tell you all how grateful I am that the heat has finally broken here in New England.  In line with the coming storm season, we’ve had either sunny days or massive thunderstorms and nothing in between, and I am LIVING for it.  I love thunderstorm season – there’s something to that electricity that makes me feel so alive. Also, feeling grateful because a massive might-as-well-be-a-whole-tree branch missed falling on our house by about six feet.  With a little help from the wind we avoided some serious damage – the thing took down all the saplings in its wake […]

What Do You Meme? – The MEME Book Tag!

What Do You Meme? – The MEME Book Tag!

A couple years ago, Sarah over at Written Word Worlds created her version of the Meme Book Tag, and because memes are super fun, I want to revisit this older tag!  As I mentioned a couple months ago with The Burrito Book Tag, I thought it would be fun to time travel a little and go back and find some of these older book tags I missed, and do them! I know that memes change over time, and some of these may be older, but I’m going with the original memes Sarah used.  If you want to snag the tag […]

It’s been a while since I’ve re-read books because there’s so many I want to read that I’ve never read before!  I’ve also re-read a lot of my favorites in the last couple years and aren’t really pining for them, otherwise, a lot of my favorite books I haven’t reviewed on the blog yet (WHAT!?) and so… they don’t qualify for mini reviews. Still. Sometimes it’s good to dive back into books you read and loved, books you’ve been meaning to revisit, and books that you think your opinion may have changed on.  Today, I’m looking at Shadow and Bone, How […]

Book vs. Movie: How to Build a Girl (SPOILERS!)

Book vs. Movie: How to Build a Girl (SPOILERS!)

The film adaptation of How to Build a Girl feels like a familiar story.  I’ve seen these characters before, read stories about them.  But it’s a different sort of story than How to Build a Girl by Caitlin Moran.  It lacks something that makes the books so enjoyable to me, and instead is a similar coming-of-age story. I think movie-Johanna and book-Johanna could come to be friends.  But they have different journeys. Please be patient with me as I try to explain.  How to Build a Girl is one of my Top 20 favorite books on a level of sheer enjoyment.  I […]

The Wonderstruck Book Tag // Taylor Swift + Books= YES!

The Wonderstruck Book Tag // Taylor Swift + Books= YES!

Welcome, loves, to the first book tag this year!  Tags are something I enjoy on the blog, and I absolutely intend to keep them up, especially because it’s a great way to connect with other bloggers, and add a bit of a fun list-style post to the daily roundup. January’s tag is one I stole from Purely Olivia, and one she posted about this time last year.  This tag combines Taylor Swift and books, which is a fun combo, and Olivia created it herself!  I very rarely talk about music on this blog (except for tags like The Song Request […]
