The Art of Writing a Negative Review

The Art of Writing a Negative Review

I have no qualms about writing a negative review.  Even for an ARC. I think this is something a lot of bloggers struggle with.  In the blogging community, your image is everything.  You don’t want to be perceived as a Debbie Downer about books all the time, because who wants to read such negativity day after day.  Trust me, if people want to be bummed out, they can just pop over to the news. Nonetheless, I believe it’s important to have a variety of book quality on your blog.  Frankly speaking, it adds to your credibility.  Nobody, nobody likes every book […]

The NOPE Tag

The NOPE Tag

Today’s book tag was lovingly stolen from Destiny @ Howling Libraries and was originally created by A Booktube Book.  Because sometimes you need to be a bit of a negative muffin about books that just didn’t work out.  Let’s get grumpy, shall we? NOPE. Ending A book ending that made you go NOPE either in denial, rage, or simply because the ending was crappy. Immediately jumping to mind is The Fate of the Tearling by Erika Johansen. Little Brother by Cory Doctorow

Little Brother by Cory Doctorow

Ughhh Little Brother.  How I hated you. I’m not just trying to be a jerk about it, but the main character Marcus was exactly the type of person I despise.  I hate reading about characters like him with their “F— the government, don’t trust anyone over 25, I do what I want” attitude.  Especially the type that turn into pathetic worms at the slightest sight of danger.  There are situations in this book – bad situations, given – that Marcus handled so badly.  I couldn’t even feel bad for him because he was such a little asshole and I’m a cynical jerk all I […]

October Wrap-Up

October Wrap-Up

Well my dears, it’s here! October has packed her bags and gotten away from me again.  Every year I feel like I’m chasing the autumnal delights of this month, and I just can’t keep up with it!  It’s my favorite time of year, but it’s also one of the busiest times of year, and it just slips away.  I come out at the end panting like it’s been a marathon but the loot was well worth it!  The leaves are off the trees, the air is getting crisp… winter is just around the corner. Well this month was actually WORSE than the […]
