The Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag (2021 Edition)

Following tradition on this blog, the month of June means that at some point… we’ve got to do the Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag.  I love this tag because it’s so widely used in the community… but also from a personal perspective, it’s a time capsule for me and my reading experience.  Every year I continue to nod to the posts of the past so I can see what has changed… and all the books I “really want to read” that I still haven’t read. This year’s post is coming a little bit late – I know, I’m sorry! – […]

A Little Awareness, A Little Appreciation, & A Lotta Book Stuff: January 2021 Wrap Up!

Welcome to the first wrap up of 2021, where we get to look at everything that got rolling as the new year started and we can celebrate how strikingly different everything is now that it’s not 2020 anymore! I kid, of course, because we still have all the same things to work on as we did in 2020, all the same concerns and challenges and opportunities for growth.  But the psychology of hope is nice, right?  For myself, 2021 hasn’t been too bad on a personal level, and for that I’m truly grateful.  Still, there’s the continued opportunity to do […]

I am so glad Miss Meteor was my first full read of 2021 because I can’t think of a better type of book to start off my year.  Chicky and Lita were amazing characters – held back by secrets that are eating them up, bu each at their core kind and sweet.  I also loved Cole and Junior, and all of Chicky’s sisters.  I have nothing to criticize about this book. Absolutely nothing. We start with a pair of estranged friends – Estrellita and Chiquita – who miss one another dreadfully, but their secrets have pulled them apart.  Both have […]

Hello everyone and happy Monday! I’m going to be making a few changes to my wrap ups, starting with this month.  First of all, I’m removing the “haul” section.  There’s a couple reasons for this. I always feel weird talking about new books and ARCs when there are so many out there who can’t bring in books every month because of their location or financial situation. I started a BookTube. In many ways, #2 feels like it cancels out #1.  I don’t get dozens of books every month, either… but Book Hauls seems like a central theme on BookTube and it […]

And just like that, my favorite month of the year is over.  We’re dipping into winter up here in New England – what’s left of the beautiful leaves have faded to brown, but most the trees are skeleton bare.  The air is chilly and just a few days ago, we had our first snow frosting. And so, here we are.  To quote Game of Thrones… winter is coming. Overall, it was a good month.  I had a lot more interactivity than I’m used to, particular for this year.  We had the opportunity at the beginning of the month to connect with […]
