Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag: 2019 Edition

Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag: 2019 Edition

It’s that time again! Every year in mid-late June, I like to participate in the Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag.  It’s a bit of an institution here in the bookish community – I see it on bookstagram, booktube, and the book blogs alike.  It’s a great time to check in and see where I’m at, and to share some favorites with you. Every year, I try a choose a different blogger from the previous year to steal the tag from.  This year, I’ll be using the set of questions from Scorpio Book Dreams.  If you haven’t checked out Rachael’s blog […]

I Would LOVE LOVE LOVE to Spend More Time in These Books

I Would LOVE LOVE LOVE to Spend More Time in These Books

As a reader, it’s easy to be left wanting MORE.  There are some worlds that are so broad and exciting, it’s easy to dive in and lose ourselves in companion novels and sequels and prequels.  I’m thinking of Tamora Pierce’s Tortall universe, or of Tolkien’s Middle Earth in particular, but you can even go beyond books and talk about Star Wars or Marvel.  These worlds are vast and delicious and have enough content that if you need more of their creator’s imagination, it’s easy to find. Then, there are standalones. I actually have no problem with standalone novels, but every […]

January Wrap Up: ALL the Books Hauled, a Little Editing, and New Year Blues

January Wrap Up: ALL the Books Hauled, a Little Editing, and New Year Blues <3

I set out into 2019 with the intention to slay my reading list, and I feel like I’m at a really good spot!  I think I’m finally settling back in after destroying myself in November.  The blogs fairly well scheduled ahead, and I’m reading my ARCs more or less as I get them. Things in my blogging and bookish world are good, y’all?  I really hope this is an omen for the rest of the year. OKAY SO. Remember how in my 2019 Blogging Goals post, I spoke about how I was instituting a book buying ban on myself for 2019? Well […]

Off-The-Grid Readathon II Review

Off-The-Grid Readathon II Review

A couple of weeks ago, I participated in the Off-The-Grid Readathon! This is the second time I’ve done this readathon and I really enjoy it. It gives me the opportunity to get out of my head and away from social media and mindless drivel for a bit and into the world of a book… and really focus on it. In review, the Off-the-Grid Readathon is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and Justine @ I Should Read That. It’s a three-day event where you read whatever you want, but the condition is, you’ve got to put your electronics away […]

Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu

Moxie by Jennifer Mathieu

I wish I had this book when I was 13.  My dad, totally ignorant, used to tell me that my responses were emotional because I was a girl and discount me completely.  I wish I had this book when I was 18.  On my 18th birthday, my boyfriend-of-the-time drove 400 miles to surprise me at college, and when I went to the hotel to spend the night with him, he expected sex.  I was sick as a god that weekend and I didn’t want to, but when he explained to me all that he had sacrificed to be here for me […]

The Off-The-Grid Readathon II

The Off-The-Grid Readathon II

Hello loves! Back in October, I participated in the first ever Off-The-Grid Readathon.  Generally speaking, I’m not big on  readathons, but I love this one.  The whole point of the Off-The-Grid readathon is to put your phone down and to read as much as possible.  Last year, I finished three books during the readathon and really enjoyed participating.  Co-hosts Shanah and Justine run this readathon four times a year… and the second one ever starts today! If you’re not busy this weekend, you’re invited! What: The Off-The-Grid Readathon Where: The comfiest reading place you know. When:  Friday, January 11th @ 12:00 […]
