Trimming some of my wrap-up topics this month, my loves, because I am exhausted to my core.  We’ll make this bare bones – new books, books read, and challenges, and posts from April.  Rather than the real life adventures section, I’ll give you a sneak peek here…. First, the inevitable, I’ve definitely got the coronavirus blues.  As an essential worker, I’m only able to quarantine part time.  Some days, I’m really bitter about this, trying with a handful of people to do the work of several while adjusting to wearing a mask and gloves full time. April rounded out poorly […]

5 Reasons You Should Read Stephen King (Even if You Don’t Like Horror)

In his book On Writing, Stephen King confessed: “By the time I was fourteen the nail in my wall would no longer support the weight of the rejection slips impaled upon it. I replaced the nail with a spike and went on writing.”   It’s strange to think one of the most beloved and prolific writers of our day was rejected time and again.  It’s similar to the motivational story behind Rowling’s quest to get Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone published… never give up.  King has infiltrated literature and screen sense his smashing (bloody?) success with Carrie and despite multiple threats to […]

I actually DO have more books coming, […]

Retired detective Bill Hodges is wasting away in front of his television.  That is, he’s wasting away until a letter makes its way to him, bearing the signature of a killer he wasn’t able to catch.  Suddenly Hodges has something to pry him out of his Laz-E Boy and back on the streets, where he does a little investigating outside the law… to bring the City Center Killer – aka Mr. Mercedes – to justice. Mr. Mercedes is told mainly from two perspectives – Bill Hodges and Brady Hartsfield.  The hero and the villain.  There is never any question of […]

Weekly Tea Time for the Soul #2 – Scripologists & Blacksmiths & My Mother-In-Law

Good morning, loves. I hope everyone has had a wonderful week!  My work life has been winding down to busy normal – I was able to leave on time every day last week, which was fantastic.  It’s the little things in life!  I packed most our stuff for vacation today, and the cats have already claimed the suitcase. Reggie is a sweet cat, but he hates it when we travel.  He will maintain vigil on the suitcase until we leave, and at that time he will climb on the shelf and watch us leave, demanding last minute pets.  He’s sweet, […]
