House-Hunting, ARC Reviews, & a SMALL HAUL WHO AM I EVEN? – The September Wrap Up

House-Hunting, ARC Reviews, & a SMALL HAUL WHO AM I EVEN? – The September Wrap Up

Good morning everyone!  September is swinging to a close and here in Massachusetts… we are fully immersed in autumn.  The leaves are beginning to go a little red-orange around the edges and the mornings have been crisp and cool.  When I leave for work in the mornings, I can smell woodsmoke and for me?  That’s the truest sign that fall have arrived. This is my favorite season – I thrive in fall.  I feel more alive September – November than I do the rest of the year and I try to live these months to my fullest… which means getting out […]

Scars Like Wings by Erin Stewart

Scars Like Wings by Erin Stewart

I had zero expectations for this book, and it blew me away.  What a fantastic debut. Scars Like Wings combines so many of the things I enjoy in contemporaries, and attached them to an amazing girl and an important topic.  How many times have we judged people by their outside, or thought less of them because of some sort of difference that makes us, for no good reason, feel uncomfortable? Difference is not something people like to talk about.  Because we all want to believe we have no unconscious bias and that we are all perfect humans. Ava is the sole […]

Time to be Accountable… My Off-the-Grid Readathon IV Review

Time to be Accountable… My Off-the-Grid Readathon IV Review

Good morning my beautiful monsters and happy Friday! Last weekend, I participated in the Off-The-Grid Readathon.  I love this ruleless readathon, because it helps me bust through my TBR.  It’s a bit difficult to tell who is participating, because “off the grid” means put away your phone!  I’ve got to be honest – I didn’t do as well with the “put away your phone” aspect this time, but I did unplug from the television, so for me that was pretty good. I had modest goals for this quarter’s readathon.  As you may remember from my TBR post, I worked all […]

It’s that Time Again! Off-the-Grid Readathon IV is here!

It’s that Time Again! Off-the-Grid Readathon IV is here!

It’s time again for my favorite readathon. Okay, so it’s the only readathon I do, but I do it every single time.  It allows me to work with random books and read whatever’s going on in my backlog, which I really like.  Seriously, give me a readathon that tells me to “just read” and I’m there for it. The Off-The-Grid readathon is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and Justine @ I Should Read That.  The concept is simple:  put down your phone and read.  No points or levels or mini-bosses or rankings.  Just read. This month’s readathon starts Friday, […]

Books On My Summer 2019 TBR – #TopTenTuesday

Books On My Summer 2019 TBR – #TopTenTuesday

At the beginning of the year, I was really good about TBRs. I was using my Novel Companion and filling out the TBR page every month and coloring it in and everything.  Then I began packing and I moved and now I don’t even know where the Novel Companion is and TBRs stopped happening and everything is fine, I swear. I generally do okay without a TBR because I have a TBR Jar and I have ARCs and everything, but it is sorta nice to have it all laid out?  So while I don’t usually participate in the TBR posts… […]

Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag: 2019 Edition

Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag: 2019 Edition

It’s that time again! Every year in mid-late June, I like to participate in the Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag.  It’s a bit of an institution here in the bookish community – I see it on bookstagram, booktube, and the book blogs alike.  It’s a great time to check in and see where I’m at, and to share some favorites with you. Every year, I try a choose a different blogger from the previous year to steal the tag from.  This year, I’ll be using the set of questions from Scorpio Book Dreams.  If you haven’t checked out Rachael’s blog […]
