Dishonor on You, Dishonor on your Cow, and Also HI! It’s the Disney Sidekick Tag!

You know, I have a lot of saved tags in my drafts, and they’re all super fun, so I feel like it’s time to do more than one tag a month.  🙂 For my readers in the United States, I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July last week!  We didn’t do anything much (we usually don’t) but it’s always lovely to have a day off!  The only thing I miss about the Fourth of July celebrations in my childhood is the fireworks, but alas, personal fireworks are illegal in the state of Massachusetts, so…. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Today’s tag comes from […]

The Art of Writing a Negative Review

The Art of Writing a Negative Review

I have no qualms about writing a negative review.  Even for an ARC. I think this is something a lot of bloggers struggle with.  In the blogging community, your image is everything.  You don’t want to be perceived as a Debbie Downer about books all the time, because who wants to read such negativity day after day.  Trust me, if people want to be bummed out, they can just pop over to the news. Originally, this tag had about 40 items (oops).  I’ve cut it way down to what I thought were the most interesting ones… and if you weren’t a 90s kid – don’t worry!  I’ve tried to explain some of our […]

My Most Disappointing Reads of 2017

My Most Disappointing Reads of 2017

Posted December 31, 2017 in Bookish Things, Reading // 4 Comments

A couple weeks ago, I highlighted my favorite books I read this year.  Every one of them was an excellent, well-written, intriguing read.  Unfortunately, not all books can be perfect and meet all our expectations.  What follows is a list of the books I read this year that didn’t live up to my expectations and why. By no means does this mean you shouldn’t read these books!  Just because I thought a book fell short, doesn’t mean others wouldn’t completely and totally love it.  In fact, at least two books on this list are very popular on Goodreads, so by […]

Juliet knows nothing but hatred and isolation. And yet, she is a sweet kind soul.  Her heart is broken by her past, by the things she has done that were beyond her power.  Her very skin is a poison.  She is locked away for the safety of the people who surrounded her – unwanted my her parents, there is no where for her to go but the asylum. Then, one day, there is Adam.  He is dragged into her cell and awakens life into her.  He is not afraid of her… perhaps only because he doesn’t know how dangerous […]
