Anyone Hungry? How About a BURRITO BOOK TAG?

Anyone Hungry? How About a BURRITO BOOK TAG?

Do you guys every just go out hunting for fun book tags? I do.  I like to do the ones trending the community, I really do, but also?  It takes me so long to get to them that trying to keep in the trending curves feels a little pointless for me.  After all, I just did the #NowWeRise Book Tag, and that one was inspired by the release of Children of Blood and Bone.  So yeah, I got to that several months after the sequel was released.  I will never be on-trend, haha, but I’m okay with that! I found today’s book […]

My 10 Favorite New Authors of 2018 (& 2018 Debut Author Challenge Review!)

My 10 Favorite New Authors of 2018 (& 2018 Debut Author Challenge Review!)

Last year, I participated in That Artsy Reader Girl’s 2018 Debut Authors Challenge.  This is a challenge Jana has been running for a few years now, though you probably know her better from Top Ten Tuesday!  The Debut Author Challenge is intended to encourage readers to reach out and support new and upcoming authors.  I’ve got to be honest, without this challenge, I most likely would have missed out of some of my favorite books of 2018. As a twist on today’s Top Ten Tuesday, I wanted to talk a little about my Top Ten New Authors from 2018 that […]

So Long to Apple Cider & Autumn Leaves: The October Wrap Up

So Long to Apple Cider & Autumn Leaves: The October Wrap Up

October is my favorite month of the year.  Between the spooky Halloween aesthetics, nutmeg and clove in the air, and beautiful leaves… it’s the most gorgeous month of the year in New England.  Add in the fact that it’s no longer 90-degrees with 100% humidity and that my birthday is in October, this is just generally a good month.  And while I’m sad to see it go, I’m excited to see what November will bring. Without further ado, I present: October. Remember last month when I only hauled two books?  Yeah, that was adorable.  The beginning of October typical means a […]

Weekly Tea Time for the Soul #5: Where? BACK TO THE FUTURE.

Weekly Tea Time for the Soul #5: Where? BACK TO THE FUTURE.

Today is October 21st. It is tradition, in our little household, that on October 21st we watch Back to the Future.  All three of them.  I grew up on these films and so did my husband – we both love them.  The tradition started on October 21st, 2015.  It’s the date, in the second movie, when they went back to the future.  Now we just sort of keep it up, because traditions are fun. It’s been an alright week.  I’ve read four books out of my TBR Jar since the last time I updated – three for the Off the Grid […]

Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

Sky in the Deep by Adrienne Young

I’m not sure what I like best in Sky in the Deep:  the characters, the setting, the love story, or the plot. I think it’s very rare for a novel to hit all the points perfectly.  Most novels will have amazing characters in a riveting plot, but lose something in the worldbuilding.  Or else, they’ll be in these gorgeous fantasy worlds, but the pacing will be so frustrating.  I really can’t think of anything to criticize about Sky in the Deep.  It’s an easy book to fall in love with. Eelyn is an Aska warrior, fierce and brave.  Everything four years, her […]

Weekly Tea Time for the Soul #4 – I’m Going Off the Grid

Weekly Tea Time for the Soul #4 – I’m Going Off the Grid

Good morning, my beautiful monsters! How have you all been?  What are you reading this week?  I’ve had a bit of a slow reading week, but I will say that I finished Sky in the Deep – which was totally fantastic!  If you haven’t read it yet, or have been waffling about adding it to your TBR, please consider reading it.  My mini-review is already on Goodreads, and it’ll be up on the blog in a week or so, but in the meanwhile I’ll tell you this much:  flawlessly five stars. For now, I’m listening to Inkspell by Cornelia Funke.  I love the imagination […]
