My Absolute Favorite Ten Books of 2019!

My Absolute Favorite Ten Books of 2019!

New Years Eve is a day where many people take time to reflect on the year that has passed and all the things have done, the people we’ve spent time with, the places we’ve been… and in the case of book bloggers, the books we’ve read. Of course, this year is a big one, because not only is today the end of a year, but it’s an end of a decade.  I’m going to keep it simple and just keep it to 2019, but this has been a crazy decade!  Over the course of the last ten years, I’ve graduated […]

The Greatest Showman Book Tag

The Greatest Showman Book Tag

tI know that The Greatest Showman came out forever ago, and I know that there are some problematic elements in the way Barnum’s character was presented vs. the actual reality, but gosh I love the music from that movie and I have had this tag hiding in my ranks since early last year.  I’ve stolen this from Scorpio Book Dreams and she has a lovely blog so please, by all means, go check her out! This tag is a mash up of two different The Greatest Showman book tags – shout out to both Irish Reader and Rachel Rexds! The Greatest Showman […]

Authors Who Hooked Me With the First Book I Read (& I Am Forever Theirs)

Authors Who Hooked Me With the First Book I Read (& I Am Forever Theirs)

Good morning everyone! Every once in a while, I find myself reading a book that sucks me in.  Sometimes, it’s a debut that wraps me up so thoroughly that I can’t believe this author doesn’t already have a dozen publications behind them.  Other times, it’s an author who delights me every single time.  These authors are the ones that inspired to try and pick up their next work. If you haven’t read any works by these authors, or don’t have their debuts on your TBR, I  highly recommend them. Charlotte Nicole Davis Charlotte Nicole Davis is my most recent contribution […]

In Which It’s Too Hot, I Do Two Readathons, & I Bombard You With Reviews: The July Wrap Up!

In Which It’s Too Hot, I Do Two Readathons, & I Bombard You With Reviews: The July Wrap Up!

Good morning everyone! I’ll be completely honest, July didn’t go quite the way I was expecting in the book department!  That’s not a bad thing, but it was different!  I was planning to join with the Camp NaNoWriMo spirit and do a lot of writing and learning about writing, and instead I ended up participating in two readathons! It’s been fun but stressful.  It’s also been hot here in New England!  The heat waves have been coming by brutally, so it’s be a good time to read. And the reading?  The reading was good this month.  I actually delayed this wrap […]

Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim

Spin the Dawn by Elizabeth Lim

I really, really, really like this book. I was so surprised by it.  At the time of writing this review (January 29th! I’m dying, waiting for everyone else to be able to read it!) it’s currently at a well-deserved 4.53 stars on Goodreads.  I’m so happy for Elizabeth Lim and I hope the rating stays high.  This book is pitched as Mulan meets Project Runway, and that description is doing it a huge disservice.  It is Mulan in as far as she’s a girl disguised as a boy, and it’s Project Runway only because she makes dresses.  So know that, then […]

Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag: 2019 Edition

Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag: 2019 Edition

It’s that time again! Every year in mid-late June, I like to participate in the Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag.  It’s a bit of an institution here in the bookish community – I see it on bookstagram, booktube, and the book blogs alike.  It’s a great time to check in and see where I’m at, and to share some favorites with you. Every year, I try a choose a different blogger from the previous year to steal the tag from.  This year, I’ll be using the set of questions from Scorpio Book Dreams.  If you haven’t checked out Rachael’s blog […]
