The Mystery Blogger Award

The Mystery Blogger Award

Back in December I was tagged by Loretta for the Mystery Blogger Award!  If you haven’t been by Laughing Listener, head on over?  Loretta is the sweetest – one of my favorites! WHAT IS IT? “It’s is an award for amazing bloggers with ingenious posts. Their blog not only captivates; it inspires and motivates. They are one of the best out there, and they deserve every recognition they get. This award is also for bloggers who find fun and inspiration in blogging; and they do it with so much love and passion.” — Okoto Enigma RULES: Put the award logo/image on your […]

In Which It’s Too Hot, I Do Two Readathons, & I Bombard You With Reviews: The July Wrap Up!

In Which It’s Too Hot, I Do Two Readathons, & I Bombard You With Reviews: The July Wrap Up!

Good morning everyone! I’ll be completely honest, July didn’t go quite the way I was expecting in the book department!  That’s not a bad thing, but it was different!  I was planning to join with the Camp NaNoWriMo spirit and do a lot of writing and learning about writing, and instead I ended up participating in two readathons! It’s been fun but stressful.  It’s also been hot here in New England!  The heat waves have been coming by brutally, so it’s be a good time to read. And the reading?  The reading was good this month.  I actually delayed this wrap […]

Mini Reviews: Tess of the Road, Daughter of the Burning City, & The Game of Love and Death

Mini Reviews: Tess of the Road, Daughter of the Burning City, & The Game of Love and Death

I know I rarely do mini reviews (read: never) but every once and a while, I do humor myself and re-read a book that I’ve read before.  For posts like these, I don’t think that a unique, standing review is strictly necessary.  After all, I’ve already outlined all the good stuff about these novels.  However, experiences differ between an initial read vs. a reread, and I still want to talk about these books. To solve the repeat-book dilemma, I’ve decided that every time I collect 3 re-reads, I’m going to give y’all a set of mini reviews!  Not as much of a […]

OMG This Song Book Tag

OMG This Song Book Tag

I would not call myself a music lover.  I listen to stuff all over the place – I listen to Benny Goodman AND I listen to Kesha.  So.  Wide range.  But I don’t have refined tastes.  If I like the lyrics or if the song sets my heart on fire, I’m all about it.  Of course, this means that a lot of my playlists come from the top 40 for various years, then start branching out as, “hey, I like this song, maybe I’ll like more from this artist.” So wait.  Why am I talking about music? Because today, we’re […]

Anti-Valentines Day Book Tag

Anti-Valentines Day Book Tag

Lots of people love Valentines Day.  They love the chocolate candies and fluttering candles and dew drop roses.  They love the batting eyelashes and sultry hushed voices over red wine.  I am so, so happy for those people… but I’ve never really been a Valentines Day person. Don’t get me wrong.  I will always accept chocolate.  But there’s a lot of pressure on this holiday on romantic gestures, and I just don’t want my relationship with my husband to hinge on that sort of pressure.  Neither of us are romantics, so both Valentines and our anniversary pass with a shrug […]

2018: My Year In Books

2018: My Year In Books

Annual round up time!  I like this time of year because it’s like this amazing gallery of all the different worlds I’ve visited and the people I’ve meant.  Okay, so granted, all these people and places are fictional, but books are still the sort of thing that make me happy, so taking a brief revisit is always fun. As I predicted last year, 2018 was so much better than 2017 in regards to my personal life, travel, reading, everything!  I’m so grateful for this upturn, and I’m sure 2019 will bring whole new slew of joy and surprises.  I started my […]
