March Wrap Up

March Wrap Up

My loves, I am exhausted.  February and March are always difficult months for me, with many thanks to the glorious New England weather.  I can only do so much with grey skies and snowstorms, you know?  This month’s wrap up is going to be brief – mostly just to say hi and let you know what’s been going on in my library these days and see how you all are doing! The Monthly Haul My haul was pretty low key this month, which is fine!  I didn’t go out and buy any of these except Children of Blood and Bone – […]

Books I Could Re-read Forever

Welcome, ladies and gentlemen, to my Crossing booklist! In The Queen of the Tearling, people were allowed to take a maximum of ten books with them to the new world.  Books, while culturally important and sentimental, are heavy and technically unnecessary unless they contained medical information… so each passenger was allowed a maximum of ten.  These are fiction, or books that were close to peoples’ hearts.  Not a desert island booklist – these books did not need to have any practical value. In 28 years of reading, I have found only five characters that I deeply relate to.  Not every aspect of them suits me, but as a white woman with plenty of cultural representation, I find it a little surprising I’ve only related to five so closely.  I think it’s because I search for personal and societal representation more than cultural (though doubtless I would be more interested in cultural representation if I was not represented). There is such a feeling of joy and comradery when I find a character that I love, who I see my own behaviors in, and […]

Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman

Tess of the Road by Rachel Hartman

Disclaimer: I received this book for free from NetGalley and Random House Books for Young Readersin exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review. This is going to be a very difficult review to write. Tess of the Road filled a void for me that won’t (I hope) exist for most people, and because of that, Tess is my soul.  I’m convinced there must be a better word in German to describe how much I love Tess Dombegh and how much I am Tess Dombegh.  I can’t find […]
