Unpopular Bookish Opinions: In Which I Discuss the Grishaverse, J.K. Rowling, and DNF-ing.

Good morning everyone and welcome to this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post!  I know I haven’t been participating consistently in this meme, but this week, I couldn’t resist!  I think all of us bloggers have some solid opinions about what we do and don’t like, and sometimes it’s difficult to express those opinions for fear of backlash. But I am always one for a salty post… so I’m totally here for this.  Y’all ready?  I’ve got some unpopular bookish opinions for y’all. This may be one of my new favorite GIFs, by the way.  I’ve used it twice in the […]

Anti-Valentines Day Book Tag

Anti-Valentines Day Book Tag

Lots of people love Valentines Day.  They love the chocolate candies and fluttering candles and dew drop roses.  They love the batting eyelashes and sultry hushed voices over red wine.  I am so, so happy for those people… but I’ve never really been a Valentines Day person. Don’t get me wrong.  I will always accept chocolate.  But there’s a lot of pressure on this holiday on romantic gestures, and I just don’t want my relationship with my husband to hinge on that sort of pressure.  Neither of us are romantics, so both Valentines and our anniversary pass with a shrug […]

2018: My Year In Books

2018: My Year In Books

Annual round up time!  I like this time of year because it’s like this amazing gallery of all the different worlds I’ve visited and the people I’ve meant.  Okay, so granted, all these people and places are fictional, but books are still the sort of thing that make me happy, so taking a brief revisit is always fun. As I predicted last year, 2018 was so much better than 2017 in regards to my personal life, travel, reading, everything!  I’m so grateful for this upturn, and I’m sure 2019 will bring whole new slew of joy and surprises.  I started my […]

5 Reasons You Should Read Stephen King (Even if You Don’t Like Horror)

5 Reasons You Should Read Stephen King (Even if You Don’t Like Horror)

In his book On Writing, Stephen King confessed: “By the time I was fourteen the nail in my wall would no longer support the weight of the rejection slips impaled upon it. I replaced the nail with a spike and went on writing.”   It’s strange to think one of the most beloved and prolific writers of our day was rejected time and again.  It’s similar to the motivational story behind Rowling’s quest to get Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone published… never give up.  King has infiltrated literature and screen sense his smashing (bloody?) success with Carrie and despite multiple threats to […]

My Ten Favorite Book Subjects (The Data Speaks!)

My Ten Favorite Book Subjects (The Data Speaks!)

Hi all! This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is all about the longest books you’ve ever read.  While this is a great topic, it’s very similar to The Mountain Book Tag which I did earlier this year, so rather than repeat content, I thought I’d bring you a different top ten… one of my very own. This week, I want to talk about my top 10 book tags!  This isn’t in regard to Book Tags in the traditional sense… these are subject tags I use on my LibraryThing account.  For all the books I’ve read, I go through and tag them with […]
