It’s the middle of June, so of course, you know what that means!! IT’S MID-YEAR FREAK OUT BOOK TAG TIME AGAIN! I’ve done this post on my blog the last couple years, and I love checking back in and looking at my answers and revisiting old favorites.  For those new around here, the Mid-Year Freak Out Book Tag is one of those book blogging institutions, and if you haven’t already seen this a few times in the blogosphere, you’ll probably see it popping up in the next month.  And, with that said, feel free to steal this and do it […]

New Books, New Hobbies, New Look: My January Wrap Up!

January is the month that lasts forever. Here in the northern hemisphere, January is the first full month of really, really cold.  Well, at least it is in Massachusetts.  I’m looking forward to the thaw – I’m tired of shivering and numb fingers.  Grateful to have a home and a place with heat, so I try to focus on life’s small blessings instead of the single digit temperatures. I am not a winter person, I swear. But there’s been a lot of things going on this month, so that can also be exciting! The Monthly Haul Um. So.  I tripped […]

I knew early in this book that The Fountains of Silence would be a five star read for me. Ruta Sepetys has such a beautiful writing style that brings the past to life in such a way that it feels modern day, and I absolutely adore it.  The way she wrote… this book made me feel so many different things.  It made me smile, and it clawed at my heart.  It made me angry, as so many of the injustice of history do.  I wanted the love story, and I wanted the sleuthing.  I wanted all of it.  And I […]

For those who have been following this blog for a while, you may have seen the below image on some of my book reviews: Since 2017, I’ve been struggling to hold myself accountable and make sure I am reading the books that are physically on my shelf.  In an adorable, half-hearted attempt to hold myself accountable, I created The Great Bookcase Crusade, which was my noble attempt to read the books I own and gut out the ones that I don’t love anymore. This was a good idea, don’t get me wrong.  It has helped me focus a bit more on […]
