House-Hunting, ARC Reviews, & a SMALL HAUL WHO AM I EVEN? – The September Wrap Up

House-Hunting, ARC Reviews, & a SMALL HAUL WHO AM I EVEN? – The September Wrap Up

Good morning everyone!  September is swinging to a close and here in Massachusetts… we are fully immersed in autumn.  The leaves are beginning to go a little red-orange around the edges and the mornings have been crisp and cool.  When I leave for work in the mornings, I can smell woodsmoke and for me?  That’s the truest sign that fall have arrived. This is my favorite season – I thrive in fall.  I feel more alive September – November than I do the rest of the year and I try to live these months to my fullest… which means getting out […]

The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis

The Good Luck Girls by Charlotte Nicole Davis

I was on board with this book as soon as I found out it was a YA fantasy western.  I didn’t even need to know the plot – I knew I was there for the aesthetics alone and the rest would com after. I gotta tell you guys, the world Charlotte Nicole Davis built here is AWESOME.  You get hints of a western feeling world in the post-apocalyptic dystopias like LIFEL1K3 and Gunslinger Girl, but The Good Luck Girls isn’t a dystopia and the world stays constant.  I grew up watching old-school westerns with John Wayne and Clint Eastwood and while YES these […]

Authors Who Hooked Me With the First Book I Read (& I Am Forever Theirs)

Authors Who Hooked Me With the First Book I Read (& I Am Forever Theirs)

Good morning everyone! Every once in a while, I find myself reading a book that sucks me in.  Sometimes, it’s a debut that wraps me up so thoroughly that I can’t believe this author doesn’t already have a dozen publications behind them.  Other times, it’s an author who delights me every single time.  These authors are the ones that inspired to try and pick up their next work. If you haven’t read any works by these authors, or don’t have their debuts on your TBR, I  highly recommend them. Charlotte Nicole Davis Charlotte Nicole Davis is my most recent contribution […]

Time to be Accountable… My Off-the-Grid Readathon IV Review

Time to be Accountable… My Off-the-Grid Readathon IV Review

Good morning my beautiful monsters and happy Friday! Last weekend, I participated in the Off-The-Grid Readathon.  I love this ruleless readathon, because it helps me bust through my TBR.  It’s a bit difficult to tell who is participating, because “off the grid” means put away your phone!  I’ve got to be honest – I didn’t do as well with the “put away your phone” aspect this time, but I did unplug from the television, so for me that was pretty good. I had modest goals for this quarter’s readathon.  As you may remember from my TBR post, I worked all […]

It’s that Time Again! Off-the-Grid Readathon IV is here!

It’s that Time Again! Off-the-Grid Readathon IV is here!

It’s time again for my favorite readathon. Okay, so it’s the only readathon I do, but I do it every single time.  It allows me to work with random books and read whatever’s going on in my backlog, which I really like.  Seriously, give me a readathon that tells me to “just read” and I’m there for it. The Off-The-Grid readathon is hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm and Justine @ I Should Read That.  The concept is simple:  put down your phone and read.  No points or levels or mini-bosses or rankings.  Just read. This month’s readathon starts Friday, […]

The June Wrap Up: With Movies, MasterClass, & SO MANY BOOKS

The June Wrap Up: With Movies, MasterClass, & SO MANY BOOKS

Happy July everyone! This month reminds me of picnics and spending summers at the lake by my family.  We didn’t have a lake house or anything, but there was a really nice beach in bicycling distance and there were some summers when we were there every day. Ah, life was so much simpler when I was twelve. Intense haul this month, mostly due to BookCon on June 1st, and a whole lot of ARCs?  Seriously, y’all are going to be drowning in book reviews in September because most of these books are published in September/October.  I’m both sorry for the […]
