While it’s not as prominent as it used to be, self-publishing still has a bit of a stigma about it for many readers and writers.  For many readers, these books are a greater risk as they are not often as thoroughly edited and proofread.  For writers, there are ups and downs to self-publishing.  But for many, self-published books aren’t considered with the same weight as traditionally published book. And while that isn’t necessarily fair, it’s important to remember that sometimes you can find a diamond in the rough.  The Martian is such a story.  But it is also important to remember […]

Have you guys heard about this “Great American Read” television show?  If you use the Goodreads web platform, it’s difficult to miss – the ad has been plastered all over mine for a couple months. There’s a lot of interesting books on this list, although I can’t imagine choosing just one book for an entire country.  PBS came up with 100 books for this competition, a mixture of popular modern reads and timeless classics.  I’ve read 37, how many have you read? 1984 by George Orwell ✓ A Confederacy of Dunces by John Kennedy Toole X A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving X A Separate […]

Rather than just feature 2017 books, I’ve chosen to drive myself crazy and feature the reads that met and exceeded expectations this year.  The ones that wrapped me up in their worlds and wouldn’t let […]

Well that month went by fast. Hi everyone, and welcome to my September Wrap Up… conveniently located in October!  As I was trying to schedule out my month, I realized a bit too late that September was filled… oops!  I ended up rearranging a lot of my scheduling but good news?  I have a calendar for the rest of the year now!  And that’s super important, because I’ve got reviews scheduled all the way out into November… oops? Warning:  This post features NO GIFs.  My computer is being super laggy and dumb and it kept crashing while I was trying […]
