Dishonor on You, Dishonor on your Cow, and Also HI! It’s the Disney Sidekick Tag!

You know, I have a lot of saved tags in my drafts, and they’re all super fun, so I feel like it’s time to do more than one tag a month.  🙂 For my readers in the United States, I hope everyone had a wonderful Fourth of July last week!  We didn’t do anything much (we usually don’t) but it’s always lovely to have a day off!  The only thing I miss about the Fourth of July celebrations in my childhood is the fireworks, but alas, personal fireworks are illegal in the state of Massachusetts, so…. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Today’s tag comes from […]

My OTP Narrator/Book Matches

My OTP Narrator/Book Matches

I am a HUGE audiobook listener – more than 2/3 of my reading the last two years has been via audiobooks.  So color me surprised when I went to review my “read by” section of my review archive, only to discover that I’ve only listened to a handful of narrators a couple times.  This post was supposed to be about ten amazing narrators, but instead, I’m giving you something else. One of the audiobook pain points that came up for the post a couple weeks ago was that a bad narrator ruins a book.  I am 100% on board with this […]

Turkey Coma: My November Wrap Up

Turkey Coma: My November Wrap Up

Here in New England, fall danced a little in October, teasing us with early smells of woodsmoke and pumpkin pie – then BAM!  We went straight into wintery cold.  As I’m typing this wrap up, it is a horrifying 0F outside, which is dastardly cold in my personal opinion.  Really, I will never be happy with the extremely in my neck of the woods. But some positives wit cold weather come holidays, time spent with friends and family, and of course, the ideal climate to curl up with a good book and a mug of cocoa. I went absolutely book […]

The Opal Deception by Eoin Colfer

The Opal Deception by Eoin Colfer

I still love this book. When I read the Artemis Fowl series as a kid, The Opal Deception stood out as my favorite.  I just LOVE Opal as a villain.  She’s cheesy and incompetent and overstuffed and I love it.  In many ways, she reminds me of Yzma from The Emperor’s New Groove – filled with evil plots and intentions, but surrounded by unhelpful minions and plans that exceed her abilities.  Basically, someone who is too smart for her own good and makes a mess of things. The Opal Deception excels in other ways for me – for one, we get a partnership between Butler […]

Weekly Tea Time for the Soul #4 – I’m Going Off the Grid

Weekly Tea Time for the Soul #4 – I’m Going Off the Grid

Good morning, my beautiful monsters! How have you all been?  What are you reading this week?  I’ve had a bit of a slow reading week, but I will say that I finished Sky in the Deep – which was totally fantastic!  If you haven’t read it yet, or have been waffling about adding it to your TBR, please consider reading it.  My mini-review is already on Goodreads, and it’ll be up on the blog in a week or so, but in the meanwhile I’ll tell you this much:  flawlessly five stars. For now, I’m listening to Inkspell by Cornelia Funke.  I love the imagination […]
