The #NotAll Book Tag

The #NotAll Book Tag

I’m one of those people who absolutely generalizes when she complains about things.  Everything is the worst or I love everything about something.  It’s a bad habit, and one I want to try and overcome because stereotyping is horrible, whether it’s people or days of the week or books or whatever.  Today’s book tag totally brings that vibe. Thanks to the Orangutan Librarian for creating this #notall book tag!  It’s a fun idea, and I absolutely stole this from Holly @ Nut Free Nerd a little over a year ago.  Thanks, Holly for bringing this tag to my attention! #NotAll Cover Changes || […]

10 Books Outside of my Comfort Zone (That I Really Liked!) – #TopTenTuesday

10 Books Outside of my Comfort Zone (That I Really Liked!) – #TopTenTuesday

I have a pretty specific set of books I like to read: YA Fantasy.  Sometimes I will shift from one of these – Adult Fantasy! YA Contemporary!  But my favorite is still YA Fantasy.  However, shifting far enough out of this genre to get into something really different?  So rare.  A book really need to catch my attention.  In fact? Half the time, even if it does, I’ll add it to my TBR and when it gets to the front of the line, I’ll say “eh no”. But I keep adding these books because – you never know!  Sometimes, I really, really like […]

The June Wrap Up: With Movies, MasterClass, & SO MANY BOOKS

The June Wrap Up: With Movies, MasterClass, & SO MANY BOOKS

Happy July everyone! This month reminds me of picnics and spending summers at the lake by my family.  We didn’t have a lake house or anything, but there was a really nice beach in bicycling distance and there were some summers when we were there every day. Ah, life was so much simpler when I was twelve. Intense haul this month, mostly due to BookCon on June 1st, and a whole lot of ARCs?  Seriously, y’all are going to be drowning in book reviews in September because most of these books are published in September/October.  I’m both sorry for the […]

The Orphan’s Song by Lauren Kate

The Orphan’s Song by Lauren Kate

This book was absolutely beautiful. I don’t typically go in for romance, but sometimes, when it’s paired with exquisitely written historical fiction, I fall head-over-heels for it.  That’s how I feel about The Orphan’s Song. I picked this book up at BookCon a couple weeks ago, and had the opportunity to meet Lauren Kate.  I’d read Fallen when I was younger and I remember very little of it except that there were parts I really liked, and parts I thought were super cheesy.  I wasn’t sure what to expect from The Orphan’s Song as Lauren moved from YA to adult, but I […]

The Newbie’s Guide to BookCon aka my BookCon 2019 Experience

The Newbie’s Guide to BookCon aka my BookCon 2019 Experience

Sooo, I did a thing. A couple months ago, I let slip that my brother talked me into going to BookCon 2019 this year.  I’d heard a little about BookCon and other bookish conventions through Twitter, but I’m not deep into those spots in the blogosphere, so it wasn’t a desperate wishlist item for me.  I thought I would casually go and check it out, but after I started to research, it became readily apparent that this was gonna be some Comic Con level stuff, and I needed to up my game. Rather than just having a brag fest here […]
