10 Books Outside of my Comfort Zone (That I Really Liked!) – #TopTenTuesday

10 Books Outside of my Comfort Zone (That I Really Liked!) – #TopTenTuesday

I have a pretty specific set of books I like to read: YA Fantasy.  Sometimes I will shift from one of these – Adult Fantasy! YA Contemporary!  But my favorite is still YA Fantasy.  However, shifting far enough out of this genre to get into something really different?  So rare.  A book really need to catch my attention.  In fact? Half the time, even if it does, I’ll add it to my TBR and when it gets to the front of the line, I’ll say “eh no”. But I keep adding these books because – you never know!  Sometimes, I really, really like […]

Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, This Is My December Wrap Up!

Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, This Is My December Wrap Up!

Happy December, loves. This is it.  This is the end of the year, and fresh with good memories and bad ones – joy and regret.  This is the final push to reach our reading and writing and blogging goals.  I’ll be doing a proper 2018 wrap up tomorrow, but suffice it to say that things went well this year, at least as far as reading goes! I hope everyone has had a marvelous holiday season!  For myself, I am exhausted and excited for the year to be swinging to an end.  The holidays are always delightful, but tiring, don’t you […]

Before I write any more of this post, I want to apologize for the whiteness of all these characters.  The beauty of writing an internationally inspired Top Ten is that we have the opportunity to showcase various […]

January Wrap Up

January Wrap Up

2018 is off to a roaring start, n’est pas, mes chers?  I’ve not been subtle about how much 2017 stunk for me, so I’m absolutely thrilled with the way January has unwound so far.  I hope everyone else has had a good start, too! I ended up with quite a good haul this month – after a slow December on NetGalley, I ended up being granted 5 books.  I timed my requests so that there’s nothing immediate, so reading them shouldn’t be a challenge (The Phantom Tree releases in August!). I believe there’s a lot of little ones in this set… Blood Will […]

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simison

The Rosie Project by Graeme Simison

I had completely forgotten this book was on my TBR until it popped up as available on my Overdrive wishlist!  It turned out to be a really great surprise.  The Rosie Project is light, fun, and interesting all at once. 1.  Don Tillman is an excellent character.  His narrative voice is engaging, detailed, and keeps the pacing comfortable. 2.  I surprised myself by being on again, off again about Rosie.  Sometimes I like her, sometimes I didn’t.  That made her a highly engaging character, because I wasn’t sure if I wanted them to be in love, to be friends, or to […]
