My Ten Favorite Book Subjects (The Data Speaks!)

My Ten Favorite Book Subjects (The Data Speaks!)

Hi all! This week’s Top Ten Tuesday is all about the longest books you’ve ever read.  While this is a great topic, it’s very similar to The Mountain Book Tag which I did earlier this year, so rather than repeat content, I thought I’d bring you a different top ten… one of my very own. This week, I want to talk about my top 10 book tags!  This isn’t in regard to Book Tags in the traditional sense… these are subject tags I use on my LibraryThing account.  For all the books I’ve read, I go through and tag them with […]

A Collection of Bookish Quotes

A Collection of Bookish Quotes

I often find comfort in books.  Whether it’s a lighthearted jab or deep words of wisdom, or a moment of inspiration… books have a lot of things to say about life and love and humor and hope. Today, I’m going to share a few favorites with you. <3 “The thing about growing up with Fred and George,” said Ginny thoughtfully, “is that you sort of start thinking anything’s possible if you’ve got enough nerve.” ― J.K. Rowling, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince “Even a book can be dangerous in the wrong hands, and when that happens, you blame the hands, but […]

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz // MYOBB #12

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz // MYOBB #12

Happy Saturday everybody!  Americans… happy belated Thanksgiving!  Did you eat an eternity of turkey and a mountain of mashed potatoes? BAM! POW! ZAP! Insta-Reads from Buzzwords – #Top5Tuesdays

BAM! POW! ZAP! Insta-Reads from Buzzwords – #Top5Tuesdays

Good morning my sweet centaurs! I bounced back and forth about whether or not I was going to participate in this week’s top five, as buzzwords aren’t really my thing.  When I think buzzwords, I think phrases like “wildly popular” and “long-anticipated” etc. etc.  Then I decided, ANY word can be a buzz word if it gives me that warm, bumblebee feeling in my bones. As always, Top 5 Tuesdays are hosted by Shanah @ The Bionic Bookworm, and her prompt is: Top 5 buzzwords that make me want to read a book. Pirate I am a sucker for pirate […]

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

The Wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum

I grew up with the Judy Garland Wonderful Wizard of Oz film, and in fifth grade, The Emerald City of Oz was one of my favorite books, but yet, I had had never read the original, the one that started it all, until now. And I found it delightful. It reads very much like a fairytale, as it was intended. The only reason I give it four stars is that, ashamedly, I think that for the most part, the MGM version has improved upon it. Dorothy and her friends do an awful lot of travelling, which is detailed by interactions with strange and wonderful […]
