Now, I’ve got to admit.  I’m not as crazy all over the WHO WOULD YOU BE?! quizzes as I was when I was younger.  When I was younger, there was Quizilla, and I made these quizzes.  But every once in a while, Twitter lures me into another “these questions don’t even make sense, BUT I AM ANSWERING THEM” quiz so obviously I had to jump on board when Loretta created this tag! If you ever find yourself having a character-related identity crisis… look no further!  All the quizzes your heart could desire from your favorite, popular series! RULES: Take all the quizzes […]

Good morning everyone and welcome to this week’s Top Ten Tuesday post!  I know I haven’t been participating consistently in this meme, but this week, I couldn’t resist!  I think all of us bloggers have some solid opinions about what we do and don’t like, and sometimes it’s difficult to express those opinions for fear of backlash. But I am always one for a salty post… so I’m totally here for this.  Y’all ready?  I’ve got some unpopular bookish opinions for y’all. This may be one of my new favorite GIFs, by the way.  I’ve used it twice in the […]

Hocus Pocus Book Tag

Hocus Pocus Book Tag

Last fall, the fabulous Katie over at Never Not Reading dreamed up a brilliant book tag.  This tag has everything – black cats, zombies, witches…. but really, it’s just a bunch of Hocus Pocus 😉 . I love Hocus Pocus – it’s hands down one of my top Halloween movies, and I don’t let October pass without watching it.  I’ve been holding on to this tag for a year, and Halloween just seemed like the perfect time to light the black flame candle…. (As a note – I added Allison and changed up the cameo one a little.  If you want […]

Fight Like a YA Girl Tag

Fight Like a YA Girl Tag

Well this is probably the neatest tag title I’ve seen.  Who doesn’t love a kickass YA girl?  In the last decade, the genre is flooded with really awesome female characters.  I’m okay with this… even if sometimes they’re a little repetitive.  This topic ties in really well with my Top Ten Kickass Female Characters post from a couple weeks ago, so lets continue the discussion! This tag was stolen from Kyera @ Kyera’s Library back in July.  Thanks for sharing it, Kyera – I love it! THE RULES Thank the person who tagged you. Mention the creator Krysti at YA and […]

Burgers & Shakes for Everyone! – OR – Why Food is Such an AWESOME Element of Setting

I read novels to get immersed into awesome worlds. Okay, so if I really broke it down I would tell you that characters are awesome, plot is essential, love stories are annoying (I’M SORRY GUYS, I WANT MONSTERS NOT KISSING), and can magic please exist?  But the escapism element?  Yeah, that’s why I read in a single element.  Books are way cooler than real life. For people like me who would rather fly on hippogriffs than sweep the kitchen, having a strong setting that leaves room for the imagination is essential.  In my reading experience, this is best with food. DISCLAIMER It […]
