An End to ARCs & a Start of Snowstorms – My January 2022 Wrap Up

Good morning everyone! I hope your days are treating you well and you are bright with purpose and warm with contentment. We are officially one month (and a few days!) into 2022! I have entered the year with great trepidation. After all, we were foolishly hopeful for 2021, and look where that got us! Personally, I feel like I’m stuck in purgatorio, trapped in that place Dante Alighieri talks about between heaven and hell where the root of all sin is caused by too much of a good thing. For me, that’s hope. It’s always hope. Hope is the most […]

Under the Black Flag: The Romance and the Reality of Life Among the Pirates by David Cordingly

This is the second non-fiction book in my entire life that I’ve reread. And, like Rebecca’s Revival, I enjoyed it just as much the second time! Pirates are a fascinating topic for me – the highwaymen of the seas, they were cruel and barbarous in reality but have been romanticized in fiction. When I first read Under the Black Flag, it was during the running of Black Sails (which I maintain is a completely excellent series and worth watching even now, five years after cancellation). I don’t want to talk about it. I haven’t even been in a reading slump. I haven’t been unentertained by books. In fact, I enjoyed the hardcopy book I was reading and have been looking forward to the next one! It’s The Heartbreak Bakery by A.R. Capetta for anyone who is wondering and I can’t wait to read it. So what’s the deal with the lack of the November reading? Listen. It’s not my fault. It’s Animal Crossing’s. Which I will get into later. To start with I’m going to totally pretend I had an AMAZING reading month and we’re […]

A Little Change, & Little Disney, a Little October 2021 Wrap Up

Hello my beautiful monsters! I came across a reel of Anne Frances Murphy singing “A Little Bit Alexis” in Schitt’s Creek a couple weeks ago, and it’s been annoyingly in my head ever since. We actually just finished Schitt’s Creek (I’m not a binge-watcher) so a year later, I’m finally caught up with the rest of the world! October is my favorite month of the year. At the beginning of October, we were just coming back from Alaska and at the end of October, we headed south to Orlando, Florida. In between these two adventures, we’ve been lucky to have […]
