Sometimes, first impressions can be misleading. I’ve had the Disney Dining Series on this blog since 2018, and in that time I’ve been back to the resort a couple times. For those who haven’t been to the WDW Resort in Florida, planning for a trip to that resort is an experience. We’ve been planning a trip to the Disneyland Resort in California, and it’s been weird and confusing for me how chill it’s been. Not so much at WDW – you need to know what table-services you want 61 days in advance, because reservations open at 60 days and there […]

Up until the last couple years, I would call The Princess and the Frog an under appreciated Disney animated film. The story is fun, there’s a strong woman playing the princess (no submissive girls in this one) and the music is fantastic. Sometime in the last few years, the Disney executives realized they only had one Black princess and suddenly Tiana was everywhere! I’m happy she’s finally being appreciated but I wish the circumstances had been different – she should have been appreciated from day one, not tokenized. Also? She’s lonely. We need more Black princesses! One of the many […]

There are a few things I really, really don’t like about the Disney Parks. These are things that try my patience and/or ruin the fun. They are as follows: Crowds. Waiting in lines. Everything is so gosh darn expensive. Disney Genie+ Some of these things are unavoidable. Like crowds. I have social anxiety and the crowds trigger that. There’s nothing that can be done to make all those crowds go away. It’s up to me to find safe bubbles in parks where I can get away from the crowds. I have places in each of the parks that meet that […]

One Jump Ahead of the Breadline, One Swing Ahead of the Sword (Disney Dining VIII)

Today’s post title is brought to you from Aladdin (1992). The song “One Jump Ahead” was composed by Alan Menken and Tim Rice. This song, the second in the animated feature, is about Aladdin’s struggle as one of the poor in Agrabah. It’s a scene-setting song – we meet Aladdin and Abu and the marketplace guards and learn a bit about life in the Agrabah market – and we also get to see a little of our hero’s character. Even though Aladdin is so poor he can’t afford to buy food (he steals it, as we watch through this entire […]

Festival of the Arts (Disney’s 50th Trip 2022)

Festival of the Arts (Disney’s 50th Trip 2022)

A lot of people don’t realize that EPCOT has four festivals – both Food & Wine and Flower & Garden have been around for such a long time and Festival of the Holidays is just a given. Festival of the Arts is just a baby in comparison to these well-established events. All of the EPCOT festivals are fantastic, but Festival of the Arts is criminally underrated. EPCOT comes to life with this festival – there is color everywhere and so many talented artists are selling Disney-inspired art throughout the park. There’s music and interactive activities and it is honestly a […]
