10 Books Outside of my Comfort Zone (That I Really Liked!) – #TopTenTuesday

10 Books Outside of my Comfort Zone (That I Really Liked!) – #TopTenTuesday

I have a pretty specific set of books I like to read: YA Fantasy.  Sometimes I will shift from one of these – Adult Fantasy! YA Contemporary!  But my favorite is still YA Fantasy.  However, shifting far enough out of this genre to get into something really different?  So rare.  A book really need to catch my attention.  In fact? Half the time, even if it does, I’ll add it to my TBR and when it gets to the front of the line, I’ll say “eh no”. But I keep adding these books because – you never know!  Sometimes, I really, really like […]

The June Wrap Up: With Movies, MasterClass, & SO MANY BOOKS

The June Wrap Up: With Movies, MasterClass, & SO MANY BOOKS

Happy July everyone! This month reminds me of picnics and spending summers at the lake by my family.  We didn’t have a lake house or anything, but there was a really nice beach in bicycling distance and there were some summers when we were there every day. Ah, life was so much simpler when I was twelve. Intense haul this month, mostly due to BookCon on June 1st, and a whole lot of ARCs?  Seriously, y’all are going to be drowning in book reviews in September because most of these books are published in September/October.  I’m both sorry for the […]

Traveling the World in Books

Traveling the World in Books

In 2017, I joined up with Top 5 Tuesday to write a post of five bookish places I’d like to live in.  When a similar topic popped up on Top Ten Tuesday, I wanted to take it in a different direction. I was fortunate enough to be able to visit Europe last year, and ever since, I’ve had a deep desire to travel and see the world for myself.  While financially that isn’t possible for me, it’s still possible to visit these places in books!  And I can dream.  While fantasy worlds are all well and good, our own planet […]

Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, This Is My December Wrap Up!

Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, This Is My December Wrap Up!

Happy December, loves. This is it.  This is the end of the year, and fresh with good memories and bad ones – joy and regret.  This is the final push to reach our reading and writing and blogging goals.  I’ll be doing a proper 2018 wrap up tomorrow, but suffice it to say that things went well this year, at least as far as reading goes! I hope everyone has had a marvelous holiday season!  For myself, I am exhausted and excited for the year to be swinging to an end.  The holidays are always delightful, but tiring, don’t you […]

Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple

Where’d You Go, Bernadette by Maria Semple

This books gets an awful lot of hype.  I’ve had it on hold for the audiobook at the library for almost a year, so I think it’s fair to say that a lot of people are still reading it.  I was excited when this finally became available because I was dying to see what all the hype was about. I gotta be honest, I didn’t love it? There were moments that is was alright.  I actually didn’t mind Bernadette as a character, and I thought some of her correspondences were interesting.  I particularly liked the email from Bernadette to her old […]

The Things I’d Like to Read This Spring

The Things I’d Like to Read This Spring

Last autumn, I tried to do an Autumn TBR per a Top Ten Tuesday Prompt.  I might have read half of those.  These days, most of my physical books are in my three different TBR jars, so I pick them at random.  THAT SAID, yikes, there are some things I’d really like to get to reading.  February, in particular, was a month reading the things I was supposed to rather than the things I wanted to. So, as the snow melts and seasons change, here’s a few things I’d like to read in the next few months.  No promises! Ready Player One by Ernest […]
