Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, This Is My December Wrap Up!

Jingle Bells, Batman Smells, This Is My December Wrap Up!

Happy December, loves. This is it.  This is the end of the year, and fresh with good memories and bad ones – joy and regret.  This is the final push to reach our reading and writing and blogging goals.  I’ll be doing a proper 2018 wrap up tomorrow, but suffice it to say that things went well this year, at least as far as reading goes! I hope everyone has had a marvelous holiday season!  For myself, I am exhausted and excited for the year to be swinging to an end.  The holidays are always delightful, but tiring, don’t you […]

I Love You, I Cherish You, Please Don’t Die // Characters I LOVE in Fiction

I Love You, I Cherish You, Please Don’t Die // Characters I LOVE in Fiction

Raise your hand if you’ve ever read a book and immediately fallen in love with a character. It doesn’t have to be the protagonist.  It could be a weird, random side character that only appears occasionally.  It could be a character that dies.  A character that comes back to life.  It could be a large bear.  Whichever way it is, that character makes you smile like a fool every time they’re mentioned.  You know they’re the best character in the book, and will argue it to the death. They’re the characters you fall in love with.  The ones you will […]

Ace of Shades Book Tag (Irons Version)

Ace of Shades Book Tag (Irons Version)

Good morning my lovelies, and happy Saturday!  For todays Ace of Shades features, I’ve snagged a brand new book tag from Min and her Books.  Min is on the Doves team, but this tag is so great, I had to give it a go!  I’ve updated Question 4 to my team, team Irons, but do check out the original post and Min’s blog in general. 🙂 Ace of Shades takes place in the very mysterious, very dangerous City of Sin. Name a fictional city with a personality of it’s own! Gammorah from Daughter of the Burning City by Amanda Foody First of […]

January Wrap Up

January Wrap Up

2018 is off to a roaring start, n’est pas, mes chers?  I’ve not been subtle about how much 2017 stunk for me, so I’m absolutely thrilled with the way January has unwound so far.  I hope everyone else has had a good start, too! I ended up with quite a good haul this month – after a slow December on NetGalley, I ended up being granted 5 books.  I timed my requests so that there’s nothing immediate, so reading them shouldn’t be a challenge (The Phantom Tree releases in August!). I believe there’s a lot of little ones in this set… Blood Will […]

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

Wintersong by S. Jae-Jones

I bought this book on Audible on a whim, and !!! boy am I glad I did?  S. Jae-Jones has that lyrical way of writing that makes my heart flutter and this is a long but also hauntingly gorgeous story and I loved it. 1.  I’ve seen some mixed reviews of Liesl, but I really liked her.  Liesl was a fluid character.  She isn’t quite sure what she wanted or who she was, a side-effect of constantly living in the shadows.  I liked Liesl’s imperfections and passionate fits.  At times, she was a commanding woman and at others a spoiled brat […]
